One day extra for the clubs but are you happy about it?

Wonder how many of you will forget about tuning in tonight lol

What nationality or whatever has weddings on Fridays? I'm Portuguese so it's never a Friday.

Tell your boss you have a funeral, then. Unless funerals are restricted to certain days in Portugal, too?

P.S. In Egypt weddings are usually held on Thursdays and Fridays. Vacation days are Friday and Saturday.

It is a question of adaptation. It will be a bit strange IMO, but let´s see if this will continue throughout all the qualifiers.

In these moments we could see that clubs are winning the battle against the FA´s in the FIFA tribunal.

No, it is an arrangement throughout euro2012 qualifying.

It also impact on the under-21 games, which have to be played earlier in the day now, for those of us who follow them.

So some rounds have taken place already in the qualifiers, what are your opinions about the Friday and Tuesday dates for the games? Do you guys think it changed something for better/worse?

Worse. I do appreciate the needs of the clubs for the players to return on Wednesdays ahead of league games the following weekend, but - particularly by playing on Fridays - the spectacle of the qualifying games has been reduced.

I expect FIFA will review it at the end of the season, given that the 2014 WC preliminary draw will be held 5 months earlier than usual in July or August 2011.

I think only UEFA is doing this, as far as I know, the Africa qualifiers are still on Saturday. Not sure about South America as they don't have qualifying for at least a year now

I don't like it, it needs to be Saturday

I actually like it better than Wed and Sat!

You dont have to sit home on Sat night and watch football rather than going out.

Lazio midfield 1999: ** Nedved - Veron - Simeone - Conceicao

Lazio midfield, 13.12.2009: ** Kolarov - Firmani - Del Nero - Lichtsteiner

I like this change too. Love to watch sports, hockey or football on Friday.

Xtratime is forever - in Old Trafford when ManU needs to score.

This is a great change for the players and their clubs, a step in the right direction as the players will be given a extra day to return in time and start preparing the weekend games after a international break earlier and better. I don't really mind watching the games on these days either, you get used to everything if you follow something you like.

Yeah it is a decision that pleases many, but many also dislike it. IMO it is just a question of adaptation. Initially I wasn´t really fond of it, but the truth it hasn´t changed much, even though I would still stick with the Saturday/Wednesday games.

The point to observe here is that the clubs have shown they have much more power than the FA´s and this decision by FIFA (at least for Europe) is a proof of it.
