The glamour group.

Germany definite firsts

Turkey - might as well appoint Terim for life if Hiddink doesn´t qualify with them. Wonder which players of theirs will become more high profile in W Europe under him

Belgium - now or never. This generation will really be written off if they don´t at least make a challenge for 2nd spot

Austria - time to build on Euro 2008 with who?

Kazakhstan - I´m sure things are improving there

Azerbaijan - Mpenza now plays there. Oil money seems to be helping the league there. Now time for the NT to get their first big win.

Going for the obvious two here. Would love Belgium to qualify though

I really hope Germany & Belgium qualify as they are our neighbours but I voted for Germany & Turkey because the latter one have Hiddink as coach who always seem to bring the best out of a team (except for Russia last year) so I foresee the 2nd spot for them. Of course the 'new' Germany we all saw during the World Cup will have no problems taking the first spot. Belgium probably choke again, especially because they don't have a Dutch coach!

Germany could get problems with a Turkish team couched by Hiddink but I still see them toping this group but not that clear as usual.

Germany and Belgium, Mignolet guy saves everything and something ugly happens to Özil in Istanbul.

Can some Belgian football specialist tell me why the fvck isnt De Bruyne or Mignolet called up?

De Bruyne is called up but slightly injured and won't play against Germany, perhaps against Turkey next week. Mignolet is still a bit unproven, if he continues like this he'll be called up eventually.

Germany to top the group, Belgium and Turkey to fight for second, Austria could take important points from the latter two.

Have a slight feeling that Belgium could make it through, their generation is good, but on the other hand Hiddink could restore the Turkish game. Will be a fight until the end.

I realised Belgium play Germany then Turkey first. So if they lose both matches and we win our first two matches we will have technically secured the top two spot.

They would have 8 games left to recover that lost ground but Turkey can swipe the other competition aside.

Belgium weren't bad tonight but Germany were simply more clinical.

Poor mistake by Van Buyten leading to the goal.

Belgium's line-up was funny btw. 4 natural CBs in defence. Why not drop Van Buyten and play Vermaelen in the middle instead of left with Pocognoli? and then 3 holding midfielders in Vertongen, Feillani and Simons

It is still in the beginning of the qualifiers and surprises could happen, but this Turkey - Belgium clash on Thursday will be very important. Schedule wasn`t to favourable for Belgium.

What are the expectations of the Belgian press after this defeat to Germany?

I'm a major fan of this Belgian generation, but I don't see them qualifying. They're destined to let themselves down once more. It's a shame, they could be dark horses to win the entire thing.

I'm expecting big things from Turkey.

I agree it will be tough for Belgium not only in this game in Istanbul, but to qualify, but they have so much potential and like many have posted here, we wish they could reach a big tournament.
