Should be a walk in the park for Spain but after that, who knows what could happen:

- the Czech Republic have become worse but still with Rosicky and Cech, they have some handy players. Wondering if anyone from the new generation is any good though. Will the Fenins and Necids of this world grow to become as good as the Kollers or Baros's of the previous generation? also is there anyone in midfield to fill in for the injuryprone Rosicky?

- Scotland are not bad. If they continue doing well at Hampden Park, then I can see them snatch 2nd spot. Still they don't really excite me

- Lithuania - don't know anything about them but they didn't do badly in the world cup qualifiers iirc. Be hard pressed to mention a player of theirs though

- Liechtenstein - All hail Mario Frick.

Hoping for the Spanish and Czechs

Scotland have a chance. Not a great chance exactly, but a small, vague chance.

Realistically, need to take 6 points from those first two games to have any hope, can't really afford our usual slip-ups. Not exactly confident though after that friendly in Sweden. We seem to get Lithuania quite a lot in these qualification tournaments. Good to not have Faroes as the diddies in the group for a change.

Far as our squad goes, McGregor is obviously the first choice in goals with Gordon out injured, and hope Alan Hutton is fit at right back. Also, baffled that Iwelumo still gets picked for Scotland, he's just a poor striker, amazed that Levein will persevere with him.

Also got a laugh out of new call-up keeper Matt Gilks of Blackpool coming out with the following: "Scotland would be my first choice. I'm more than happy to be coming to Scotland." Aye, right son.

Scotland has a excellent chance I think. Czech Republics starting XI seems bad to me.

Yes, but ours is downright awful.

Well distinctly average at best. And with a 40 year old centre back who'll not likely be playing by the time the tournament comes around. Fabio Cannavaro, eat your heart out!

But I think your midfield is amazing, Fletcher-Adam-Dorrans sounds excellent.

And why is Weir called up, I think you guys have many options to CB position even if Weir wouldnt play.

Thing is that Weir is still probably the best centre back playing in the SPL, depressing as that sounds. But Broadfoot, McManus and Berra are all decent enough in their way. So long as Weir's not got to go against anyone too fast he should be OK thanks to his reading of the game.

European and World Champions to top easily the group. Scotland to advance instead of the Czech Republic in a tough fight for second place.

Easy group for Spain, Czech Rep and Scotland to fight for 2nd spot, but i think Czech rep will take it.

Czechs are a shadow of their teams of old. Scotland will find it hard to find a better oppourtunity to get to a major tournament

Not if we continue to have absolutely no goalscoring ability, as showcased perfectly tonight where we were clearly the better team, and yet with ten minutes to go it looks like being a bloody 0-0 draw. Can only think of two chances from Miller, one header just now he fired miles high, and one he put straight at the keeper.

Spain & Czech Republic.

Scotland still has a chance if they can beat the Czech Rep. though.

I'm expecting a real surprise from Lithuania, since Scotland and Czech Republic are not in the best of times..

I wouldn`t rule out completely Lithuania from this fight. They are improving every qualifiers.

Lithuania have absolutely no chance of even challenging for 2nd place. They are a very poor outfit, the dirtiest side i've ever seen also. They didn't even look threatening against us.

I didn`t see the Lithuania Vs. Scotland game, don`t know how the teams played. I just commented by the result which was decent for them and with some good organization they could suprise.

If Greece with their bunker tactics, physcial strength, oragnization and many fouls reached the WC why can`t Lithuania dream about it

I wonder if Spain will give any of its points to another team, like they did with Switzerland in the WC. I think the most likely team to get those points would be Czech Republic. Haven't seen them play in a while though.

Still, does anyone think 4-0 against Liechtenstein is a bit too little for the World Cup champions?

I don't think they care anymore. They are the current European and World champions so matches likes this are just a formality for them. Just play them without getting cards and injuries and save strenght for the next better opponent. Must say our 0-5 win vs San Marino also wasn't that impressive actually. I remember Germany beat them 0-13 not so long ago.
