Assorted random thoughts/crap to jump-start a kinda dead forum

South Korea have been given a more favourable draw than the other Asian representatives, plus key players are playing regularly, coming into the tournament - of course Park and Lee in the EPL, and Park Chu-young has been important for Monaco. Haven't followed Ki Sung-yong at Celtic.

It wouldn't surprise me if they performed best of the Asian reps, despite that I like Japan's style most of all.

Funny. I've been thinking quite a bit about this very topic and I came to the conclusion that these two teams are very evenly matched.

I know more about Japan than Korea in terms of squad members, but Korea are definitely just as good as Japan in terms of attacking midfield personnel. Especially considering Nakamura is no longer the player he once was. Young and Lee are very exciting players and the intelligence and experience of Park will surely rub off on the young starlets around them.

Who is playing up front for Korea?

Park from Monaco definitely starts. I usually don't rate Korean teams but I reckon this time they might do alright even though they got a reasonably tough group.

I had a dream about Lee Chung-yong last night, seriously. Well, this player, he has some pace, although not exactly the paciest, definitely not, relying more on intelligence. Plus he's played consecutive seasons without a break... anyway, he was playing against Man United and had eluded all his markers. One-on-one with van der Sar. With the classiest of chips he dinked the ball over Edwin's head and into the net! He himself charged into the white netting and smothered himself in it. It gets a bit weird and disturbing here. When he turns around, he looks like he's all dressed up for Halloween. His face is stark white with splotches of black where his eyes should be.

About their other strikers, well... Lee Dong-gook? lol

I remember I went through a phase of dreaming about Nakamura.

Never.

Speaking of another Korean, it's rather frustrating but Nam Tae-Hee can be found plying his trade at Valenciennes. They are very safely ensconced in mid-table, neither threatening the European places or fearing relegation. Players have shown themseves to be inconsistent and when Nam has been introduced as a sub he's often brought a spark. Fans wish the coach would give him some starts considering their status in the top-flight but it hasn't happened as yet. I found this:

He's done well in all of the very short appearances he's been given but Montanier seems reluctant to give him more than 30 minutes much less a starting role.

Apparently many of the Valenciennes fans feel the same way -- that he's more than good enough to start and that he's shown enough in the ways of maturity, ability and composure to start for a team in L1. Some are even pissed off about it.

"Marre de voir Nam sur le banc..." i.e. "I'm sick and tired of seeing him on the bench"

Others noted the game changed in favour of VAFC once he came on and his dribbling skills, speed, and technique make him a clear and present danger.

More comments:

"Nam a fait en 10 minutes ce que certains n'ont pas réussi à faire sur tout le match..."

Nam has done in 10 minutes what some have failed to do the entire game!

Nam's dribble starts from 2:40:
