Anyone caught out by an April Fool's joke? On tennisforum.com there was a good one where some prankster opened the thread "BOMBSHELL: SERENA ANNOUNCES SECOND PREGNANCY AND IMMEDIATE RETIREMENT." I actually believed it for a second...

The best one I saw was from the U.S. Navy. They are going to start naming their ships after cats.

On a serious note, I've shot both 7.62x54R and 8mm Mauser, but I'm not sure which has the higher energy. Either one will put a big, shit eating grin on your face.

A buddy of mine at the range has a civil war musket, an .80 smoothbore. When that thing goes off it produces a shockwave that you wouldn't believe. You can feel it throughout your whole body.

Your civil war or ours? I think we had rifled muskets by the 1860s. That one must be really old.
Didn't you have a revolt or something civil warish?

Yours. The Confederates still used smoothbore rifles. Stonewall Jackson was shot by one, from his own brigade ironically.

I have no idea why the north didn't just call in an airstrike at Petersburg. Or why Lee didn't use tanks at Gettysburg.

Exactly. Personally I've always wondered why Lee gave such clumsy instructions to Ewell, when he could just as easily have ordered a Seal team to take the hill.

You're probably thinking of the Clog Wars of 1806, between the People's Front of Tulips and the Windmill Liberation Army.

helicopters dropping Seals around the left flank of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain's 20th Maine. That is unless the 20th had anti-aircraft emplacements on Little Roundtop. I would pay to see that re-enactment.

Y'all ever find something on your recommended video list that you sure as hell know has nothing to do with your viewing history? I was trying to find something to watch on my tablet while on the exercise bike the other day, when this popped up...

Yeah, might seem gross, TMI at first, but she talked about things most of us have probably never had to worry about before. I ended up watching a few more of her videos during my usual 45 minute session. There's also a very sad story behind how she became a paraplegic in the first place.

My thoughts exactly. It's the same story with Fredericksburg. Why did Burnside order a charge across open terrain, while the enemy held the high ground? Instead he should have ordered his planes to drop napalm along the wall and force the rebels to abandon their positions.

It amazes me how little those generals knew of modern warfare!

Oh, hell. Generals were still doing that 60 years later in WWI.
