Repositioning

Lampard
He plays in a three-man midfield with two defensive-minded midfielders. That makes him an AM in my book.

Gerrard
Tougher decision - he's played in a two-man midfield and a three-man midfield already this season. I guess CM would be fairer if Liverpool are going to play 4-4-2 quite regularly.

Milner
City are playing him on the wings, so he's an AM in my book.

Arteta
He seems to play centrally these days, so I wouldn't object to making him a CM.

Agger
Started the season at left back but I'm not sure if he's likely to keep his place with "proper" FBs Konchesky and Aurelio fit.

Lescott
Like Agger he's started at fullback, but Kolarov will surely replace him. If Kompany or Toure got injured he'd likely get an extended run at CB.

Thoughts? Other players who might need to be repositioned?

Bear in mind that the new rules require two FBs in the starting lineup.

Milner is definitely an AM.

Arteta is still an AM.

Gerrard is now a CM, as is Lampard.

The two CBs are CBs still.

Are you joking with Arteta as an AM? He hasn't played out wide in over 2 seasons. Often he's the deepest Everton player, deeper than Fellaini. I know this because I watch almost all Everton's games. Go check out yesterday's match if you don't believe me.

The only time Lampard played AM, was at the start of last season, when he actually complained he was being played too far forward.

Being a midfielder and scoring alot of goals doesn't automatically make you an AM if you spend most of the game in midfield picking the ball from the defence.

The distinction between a CM and an AM is not so much where they play as what roles they perform. An AM is a midfield player who doesn't defend enough to warrant the defensive bonus a CM gets.
With Essien and Mikel in Chelsea's midfield, how much defending does Lampard do?

Quite alot actually. Essien gets forward alot too when Mikel is in there. He certainly does as much as Pirlo would.

It is more like

----DM----
CM-----CM

Okay make Essien an AM too, so that only Mikel gets defensive bonus, problem solved.

Rodellega should surely be an AM at this point.

Agger and Lescott are centre backs. They're being played out of position to cover injuries.

And I'd say an AM is there as an attacking threat primarily, whilst a CM performs large to moderate defensive functions.

Mikel and Essien are CMs. Lampard and Gerrard are AMs- Gerrard will spend half of his time playing off Torres when he's fully fir.

I have no sig. If anybody would like to make me one, please inform me

I've updated the Player List, we need to agree that before we can start the bidding.

I'd go with:

Lampard - AM
Gerrard - CM
Milner - AM
Arteta - Not sure, haven't seen enough of Everton
Agger - CB
Lescott - CB

When does the transfer window open?

Brunt is definitely an AM.

Are the decisions made in the OP definitive then? Need to start planning my bids.

Is Wilshere an CM? He seems to be playing in the centre this season?

Interested to hear The Judge's views on this because, admittedly, I haven't watched a great amount of Arsenal games this season.

He was an AM when I had him and he's still definitely more offensive than Diaby or Song.
