After the second successive loss of Los Galacticos FC, the biggest club in the world, mutterings among the terraces and fanzines have become fervant with speculation as to why the club has had such a disasterous start to the season. Compounded by the shock loss today to the unheralded WACCOE FC, the next game is looking like make or break for manager Quetzalcoatl, the well endowed coach who last season led them to a domestic whitewash of trophies.

Some disgruntled supporters are targetting their wrath at the overpaid and overpampered Galacticos, who were so crucial in last season's triumphs. There is a feeling that the complacency is a result of the excessive triumps of last season. With such a stacked trophy cabinet and a bulging wallet, where is the motivation to improve on last season's performance? Michael Carrick in particular has bared the brunt of some of the criticisms, with some fans suggesting 'the gormless goerdie git should be benched'.

Others are looking back to pre-season, where it is felt among some players that the 300 game tour of Asia may have left the players completely spent before the season even started. Complicit in this planning, Quetzalcoatl has also come under fire for his summer signings, with big money signings such as Luca Modric and Alberto Aquilani seen as expensive luxeries given their well known injury problems and the continued defensive frailties

However speaking on Five Live, Quetzalcoatl rubbished rumours he was losing his touch, responding to the speculation; "You dont understand, these Asian tours bring in the money needed to pay for our big summer signings. Our Galacticos also attract fans of the plastic variety, which gives a huge boost to the local prawn sandwich industry, whose sponsorship brings in even more money" Commenting on the transfer dealings, Quetzalcoatl added; "Aquilani and Modric will sell even more shirts this season", "Defenders are their to just make up the numbers, with the loss of Ronaldo, we needed two players with the georgous lucious locks and sweet demeanor to keep our knicker wetting audience"

... To be continued.

Some of the tabloids have been speculating about an approach being made to out-of-work Spanish boss "Manuel Hung".
