General Game Discussion Thread

Not sure if everyone has been following the XT Fantasy Liga or te XT FantaCalcio, but they have been going on very well. In the Italians case for quite a few seasons and they've also made an XT Fantasy Champions League.

A few people made some noises about an XT Fantasy Premiership similar to those models. I am curios as to whether there'd be interest in posters in competing in it. And any suggestions about the game and or queries. Right now this is a thread to understand if there i a demand and such.

Yes I'm in and call dibbs on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Seriously, it's a good idea especially if within time we integrate with the Spanish and Italian XT Champions League, could be a lot of fun and very good for the community.

I'd say yes but my attention span when it comes to these kind of things is abysmal.

I presume Arfy would copy the Italian and Spanish Fantasy league systems.

I usually lose interest in the fantasy league things, but if people are relying on me do something I'm generally more inclined to do it.

So if I start, I'd probably follow it through.

A community based Fantasy league is easier to keep interest in then one based on another website though, theirs more interaction and more depth to it. For starts you can't all have the same players like you can on these other fantasy games (premierleague.com for instance) and their is more tactics involved, negotiating transfers etc.

Well, I suppose I always come on here when I check the intenet so I wouldn't be so much of a chore (logging into that website, remembering password etc).

Those rules seem interesting.

Couple of questions.

How does Europe work? What if you don't have a squad with players who are playing in Europe, for example?

Also, how do we decide on players. Presumably we can't all have the same players so who decides?

Do we have funds to get these players?

I'd be interested, and I'm sure I could get a friend of mine to sign up too, if we were lacking in numbers.

From the Spanish version:

Quote:
How will the players be chosen? You will be given 550 credits. I will give you a list with all the players.

So you make your first list of 23 players with bids whose total can't be over 500 credits and then send it to me with a PM. I will compare the lists and those who bid more for a player get that player. The addition of salary and price can’t be over 550 credits.

Of course after the first list you will hardly have a team which is complete so you will have to send me a second list with the players you have already obtained plus the new ones you are interested in. Again your total offer must not overcome 550 credits.

There could be one, two, three, four, five lists... before everyone has 23 players.

The end of the transfer campaign is the September 30 (hopefully no more, although it's quite posible that it happens) and you can change your players till that day. Of course the limit of 550 credits is kept.

If after 5 lists we don't have the teams done, there will be a 2nd phase. What is important about this second phase is that the bid must appear on the forum and not in a PM, so that another participant can bid more. So while the first part is similar to the envelopes, the second part is more similar to an [auction]. As regards the [auction] an higher offer must appear less than 24 hours after the highest offer for the player.
So the initial rounds are like a closed auction, and if some teams still need players after five rounds, there's an open auction for any players who don't have a team.

Interesting.

Are you able to accumulate credits over the season?

I think you get credits for winning matches, and during the transfer windows you can sell and trade players amongst each other.

Sounds a lot of fun. I tried to run a Draft league at home, but there weren't enough of us to make it work well.

So yeah, I'm definately in. Points scoring based on what/where exactly?

I have no sig. If anybody would like to make me one, please inform me

Make sure to cap it at 12/16 max. Otherwise the picks will get stupid, considering we all need 23 man squads.

Yeah my initial idea is for about 12 participants, maybe 14. I know it may be restrictive but it'll be good to help the game be sustained and managed. I'll outline the sort of ideas that have generally been adopted. I was thinking doing something very similar to the Spanish model.

The first thing to say, and it's easy to understand, that this is "elitist" and it can only be this way. You need active posters, you need respectable posters, you need people with a high knowledge of the EPL and you need people who are able to respect the others. You don't want a hacker in your league, right? Someone who destroys the work of the ones who work in it and act like a prick.

It's arfy's decision, but I would suggest a 12 participant league. This is 22 games, then you will have your FA Cup too, which will have 3 or 4 rounds, and if he pretends to use a double leg system, he'll need 5 or 7 games, which makes 27 or 29 leagues. Well, enough for the first year.

But the idea is that we have our Champions League and our UEFA Cup, in fact, they're starting next year between the Italians and the Spanish. Next year, you will have 5 or 6 games more and I guess a Supercup too. So it makes things more tight and remember you only have 38 EPL games and it'd be good to make room for any possible problem.

About the rules. I would suggest arfy to use a system that is as similar as possible to the Champions League system he already knows (BTW, he'll play it, since he was 3rd in the Spanish league last year). The Italians and us will have to adapt our systems to play in a common ground. If you already use th XT Champions League system, you won't have to make any adaption, which would be much better for you.

My view on it is that this goes beyond the usual Fantasy Leagues we know, as the one of uefa.com. You're not sharing players, you have your own players and you manage your own squad. You play "football games" against a particular rival, not against everyone. You'll have 2-1 or 0-2 results, not 67 points. I would suggest that you take a look to the Italian and the Spanish fantasy leagues forums and you can make yourself a picture of what I'm talking about.

I always forget about the usual fantasy leagues, for similar reasons as the one Mutu said. On the other hand, I found this game addictive. You have your team, your players, you have to be smart in your picks and you see the progress of your team in the standings.

I'm sure arfy will make a great job, because he already helped me to make the Spanish Fantasy League work. He has experience in it and I'm sure he can make it perfect since the first day.

I am wishing to help in everything I can. I have enough with the Spanish one and the European trophies that I will run along with Romanista10.

It's addictive, at least for me. I finished 7th , but I made a great Copa tournament and I only lost in the final against that dictator called Iribar that won the Double. You won't regret to have this game.
