Hungary powered to the top of UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying Group 2 courtesy of their goalscoring record after an impressive 4-0 win against Ukraine in Mangualde.
József Both's side were ahead after just two minutes as Ádám Dudás beat Kostyantyn Makhnovskyy in the Ukrainian goal, and things went from bad to worse for Vadim Dord's men as Hungary were awarded a 32nd minute penalty, which Krisztian Nemeth gratefully.
The second half brought little relief for Ukraine as László Szabó put Hungary 3-0 up after 68 minutes before Nemeth completed the rout with a strike four minutes from time. Hungary are now level on points with mini-tournament hosts Portugal. They play Sweden in their last game while Ukraine take on Portugal.
"This is a great result because we played against a strong side," said Both. "We get better and better with each game and I i think that we can beat anyone now. We do not concede a lot of goals and our attacking play is even stronger. This is a result of a good selection system and the new coach education system as well."
