The Toto cup 2012/13

Today there was a draw of the groups -

Group A - Kiryat Shmone, Acre, Sakhnin, Hapoel Haifa, Maccabi Haifa
Group B - Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Hapoel Tel-Aviv, Bney Yehuda, Maccabi Netanya
Group C - Ashdod, Beitar, Ramat Asharon, Beer Sheva, Hapoel Ramat gan

there gonna be only 3 games(or 4 in the 5 teams groups) in the first round, then the QF will be 2 legs, and then the semi-final and the final in Ramat Gan.

its not very intresting cup, but its allways intresting in the Pre-Season, and when the semi final+

It was basically a regional division as it was last season. It is interesting for the pre season as you say or to test players but it is a kind of useless cup. How much are IFA paying for the winner?

Well it is some money but still guess they should leave the teams resting the players or at least giving them more time to practice.

In that case it would reduce the interest in the State Cup IMO.

Should be entertaining with a big atmosphere like every Tel Aviv derby but won´t be not even close with what we will see throughout the seasons of the respective teams.

We will also have the Haifa derby in the first round of the Toto Cup on the same date.

That is because the league hasn´t started and people are already curious to watch games again. And of course derby is always a derby independently where, when, who

We will have the first round of the Toto Cup and already with spicy games as the Haifa derby will be played tommorow while the expected Tel Aviv derby on Sunday.

These initial games are as usual interesting to analyse how the teams are preparing for the season that starts in less than one month time.

Even though it is a meaningless competition certainly all the teams would like to start winning and gain confidence and nothing better than win a derby.

Maccabi Haifa drew 1-1 today at Kiriat Eliezer against Maccabi Netanya and is out of the Toto Cup. The greens lost the first game in Netanya 3-2 and consequently didn´t obtain the result to qualify to the competition semifinals.

Tommorow the other quarter final games (in brackets the first leg results).

Maccabi Tel Aviv Vs. Hapoel Haifa (2:2)

Hapoel Ramat Gan Vs. Ironi Ramat HaSharon (2:0)

Ironi Kiriat Shmona Vs. Hapoel Beer Sheva (this will be the first leg, the first game was postponed due to Kiriat Shmona´s delayed Europa League game against Atheltic Bilbao).

Hapoel Haifa caused the shock of the quarterfinals as it beat Maccabi Tel Aviv at Bloomfield 1-0 and eliminated the yellows from the competition.
With the result all teams from the "big 4" are outof the competition.

In the other games Hapoel Ramat Gan administrated its big margin (2-0) and drew 1-1 against Ramat HaSharon, qualifying aswell.

Hapoel Beer Sheva beat Kiyat Shmona away and takes a good advantage for the second leg at home.

In order to savee the competition, IFA and the clubs commitee have apparently talked about the possibility of crowning the Toto Cup champion the right to fight for a spot in Europe. According to reports, the Toto Cup winner would make a playoff game against the third placed team.

Ok, nice initiative to upgrade the Toto Cup, but what about all the charm of the State Cup? The winner doesn´t receive the possibility to qualify?

Plus, it is going to leave the cup attractive, but it would give a real possibility to have weaker Israeli sides in Europe which wouldn´t give us coefficient points.

Let´s see what will happen.
