Berkovic protest in front of IFA with fans!

Israeli former international star, Eyal Berkovic, currently sports commentator, gathered today with around 500 fans from different teams in front of the headquarters of the Israeli Football Association protesting against their management of the game in the country.

The last event that made most of the fans angry was the decision of the IFA court to revoke its decision of taking three points from Maccabi Petah Tikva, team controlled by Amos Luzon, brother of Avi Luzon IFA chairman.

Elona Barakat, Hapoel Beer Sheva boss aswell as its Hapoel Haifa couterpart Yoav Katz threatened to leave its investements in Israeli football due to all these decisions that affect the play.

Berkovic said that he has nothing personal against Avi Luzon or Maccabi Petah Tikva, but the way things are going without criteria and with evident political interests, Israeli football will go backwards.
His suggestion is that IFA focuses more on the NT and not involving too much in league decisions (this seasons the IFA court made a record punishment to the teams, but most of them were without any criteria or for minimal cases).

Today the police was called for a decisive match on relegation game between Hapoel Beer Sheva and Maccabi Petah Tikva where more than 7,000 local fans are expected and the ultras have warned Luzon not to come the the stadium. With the return of three points to Maccabi Petah Tikva the latter are now leveled points with Beer Sheva, but have an advantage on goal difference.

Israeli football needs changes in many areas, hopefully everything is made peacefully and in a natural and honest process.

Berkovic is right in every way. The way IFA handles things....it doesnt serve Israel soccers interest. It just makes things look bad from the outsie. I hope that things will improve and that we can get our football back on track......

Berkovic could be explosive and a hard personality at times, but he has good intentions. Of course he is using all his popularity in this issue to gain personal prestige and who knows even a position at IFA, which I believe it would be positive.
