Terror plot at an Israeli football match?

British Consulate staff suspected of aiding plotters of Hamas rocket attack
Two Palestinians, local employees of the British consulate in Jerusalem, have been indicted on weapons charges in connection to an alleged plot by two Hamas members to attack Teddy Stadium.
By Reuters

Israel said on Monday it had charged two local employees of the British Consulate General in Jerusalem with arms trafficking as part of an investigation into an alleged plot to fire a rocket into a major sports stadium in the capital.

A British Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman confirmed the arrests and said Britain was urgently seeking confirmation of the charges.

"We have been told by the Israeli authorities that the investigation into our two employees is unrelated to the work they do at the consulate," the spokesman said.

The Shin Bet said the two Palestinians were indicted recently on the weapons charges in connection with an alleged plot by two other Palestinians to attack Teddy Stadium, home to the Beitar Jerusalem soccer team, with a rocket.

The Shin Bet said the consulate staffers helped the two other suspects, alleged members of the Hamas Islamist group who were charged in court on Sunday, to obtain guns.

No rockets were found by authorities, who said the plot to attack the stadium had been in its preliminary stages

Poor Teddy

I think it needs a hug

It's stupid attacking a stadium. But Hamas will do anything to cause death and injuries. It's a terrible situation that will never be resolved in all honesty.

Its on dangerous grounds.

When you look at it... A stadium holds more than 2,000 people. Its filled and most of the attention is going to one area of the field..or simply the ball itself. Its hard to root out problem sections or potential threats to the stadium. There is preliminary security in the stadium, but you never know when enough is enough.

Whats troublesome is that these employees could have carried some diplomatic documents and that could clear them out of the way.

There is going to be a lot of questions now in Britain about who is hired in the UK high level commissions abroad.

For Beitar fans..i say we go to Tel Aviv and protest in the UK embassy near Ayalon St.
Wouldnt be the first time a beitar fan was escorted out of the embassy area for bad langauge

Just a false alarm IMO. Of course Israeli authorities should be alert on the issue as they always have been, but it would be a stupid move for Hamas to do such a thing as they already have international public opinion on their side and affecting a football stadium which is the most popular sport in the world, would cause negative news for them.

They would cease to be the "poor unprotected stone throwers and molotov makers" to become a blood seeking entity which we know they resume to this at the end.

Anyways won`t go further details since politics is not exactly the place for it here in the forum, but just to give an idea on the issue.
