How do you rate Maccabi Tel Aviv´s European Campaign?

Maccabi Tel Aviv said good bye to European competition last Thursday in a thrilling 4:3 victory over PSG, but that wasn`t enough to place the yellows in the Europa League Group Stage.

After eating Mogren and then Olympiacos only to fall to PSG, how do you rate Maccabi Tel Aviv´s campaign? Was it bad or the team exceded expectations? Did the team play well or was a bit lucky? What is your opinion?

I chose option number 2, cause that was my expectation before the season, and passing Olympiakos is mainly the reason.

But I must say we should and could advance to the group stages.. PSG played with half a lineup in both games and especiely 3 starters in the first game and thought of us like we're a friendly game, and I gotta say we prooved them that they are absolutly right sadly.

Don't waste your time on jealously; sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind.

The race is long, and in the end - it's only with yourself.

I also voted for option number 2. It is a bit of a mix to tell you truth because at the same time we were surprised positively that we eliminated Olympiacos we ended the game with Paris Saint Germain last week with the feeling that we could have done better the job.

And secondly we know very well the investments made and the objective was to try and reach the Group Stages (which we knew it would be tough since Maccabi wouldn`t be seeded in the two last round previous to the Group Stages. I thought the loss to Mogren (even though we qualified) proved we weren`t so good and that we were still weak.

But to be honest, the team gave their best and this is what matters at the end. I respected the way the team played against PSG in the second leg never giving up and that is the reason why we won the game. First leg in Paris costed us the ticket to the Group Stages.

Also interesting to note the Bloomfield factor once again. Maccabi won al three games at home. This only confirms why Hapoel is trying desperately to keep the stadium as homeground for the Champions League Group Stage. But also is important to note that Maccabi lost all three games away.
Is this only coincidence or it related to their attitude in the pitch? Or maybe the issue is more with the game preparation and selection of players/tactics?

Maybe Maccabi received some blessings in Yom Kipur?

According to Spanish newspapers, Sevilla has entered with an official petition against PSG in Uefa demanding the three points from their previous match as they say that the Armenian Cameroon born keeper Apoula Edel, 24 years old is actually Ambroise Bayema, 29 years old and therefore using a false identity.

If the case is confirmed, PSG would be punished and would lose 6 points which means that it would include the second leg leg won by Maccabi Tel Aviv. There is speculation that Maccabi could be included in the competition.

If this is true, this is great news, even though it is unlikely to happen IMO.

I doubt it will happen, but there is a chance of it.

But don`t think Uefa will make things easier for us even though Avi Luzon apparently has good relations with Platini.

Tel-Aviv spanked Netanya 5-1 in the toto cup. Maccabi looks like they are starting to gel as a team. Haifa continues to disappoint. They lost 3-2 to Acco. I think it will take Haifa another season to rebuild at least, they are really hurting from the loss of Teixeira and Keinan.

Apparently the charges against the PSG keeper were taken and Maccabi could see their slim hope of reentering Europa League definitely slipping away.

According to ONE (didn´t see that news on Sport5 or any other Israeli news vehicle) some Greek media and referee of the Greek federation members are suspecting the game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Olympiacos in Israel was sold! They are suspecting that Maccabi offered money to the referee and this is the only issue that could have explained doubtful calls in the return leg in Tel Aviv.

Shameful They are still not believing they lost to Maccabi and after five months they come out say the game was sold. They should hide their faces in shame. Maccabi was better, Diego deserved to sent off and we continued they were out.

Diogo was even sent off after we practicly won lol in the dieing minutes of the game.(btw he's freaking useless in Santos too -.-)

I read the article and they got nothing but the guys "word" that it happened.. untill he has anything practical I don't think we even need to bother and address it... we went through fair and square, there was nothing wierd about both games.(yes they deserved the goal to count, but if we say it's fixed cause of that - then so are 90% of the games in todays football)

It´s all "shtuyiot". They want media attention and want to justify a failure because certainly they weren`t counting with a early exit in Europe especially against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

And the fact they are talking after nearly half a year only shows it is nonsense. Maccabi were better and went through period.

And Or, yes he is playing nothing at Santos!
