European Season

Tommorow officialy begins the European season for Maccabi Tel Aviv. While all the attentions are on the World Cup the Europa League draw will take place.

Maccabi Tel Aviv will start the in the Second qualifing round as a seeded team and in theory should receive an easier team. If the team goes through they will probably not be seeded.

Anyways good to see the team back to Europe. Do you guys think Maccabi has chances to reach the Group Stages?

Gonna be hard cause I hear we ain't seeded for the 3rd qualification round, and there we can draw one of the big teams, as in Juventus, Liverpool, Galatasaray, Sporting Lisbon or Stutgart, just like Bnei Yehuda who got PSV last year.

Depends on the draw, if we can get a solid one we should defenetly be able to advance, and could even advance if we don't get the elites such as Liverpool/Juventus, but say Sporting etc, also possible depending on how things turn out.

But the only thing I really want from this season in all honesty is fighting for the title in the league, and not going to the beach 5-6 games before the league ends.

There is almost no chance you will be seeded for the 3rd round.

Assuming every match goes to form, here is the list of seeded teams you might face:
Liverpool Eng 115.371
Juventus Ita 59.867
Sporting CP Lisbon Por 57.659
Olympiakos Piraeus ** Gre 54.979
VfB Stuttgart Ger 52.841
AZ Alkmaar Ned 48.309
Galatasaray Tur 43.890
Besiktas ** Tur 33.890
Dinamo Bucuresti ** Rom 28.898
Levski Sofia ** Bul 25.400
Maccabi Haifa Isr 19.775
Austria Wien ** Aut 16.915
CSKA Sofia Bul 15.400
OB Odense Den 14.970
Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk Ukr 14.910
Red Star Belgrade Srb 13.300
Anorthosis Famagusta * Cyp 13.099
Aris Thessaloniki Gre 12.979
Brřndby IF ** Den 12.970
Rapid Wien ** Aut 11.915
FC Timisoara Rom 11.898
APOEL Nicosia ** Cyp 11.599
Montpellier Fra 10.748
Sibir Novosibirsk Rus 8.758
Wisla Kraków ** Pol 8.508
Racing Genk Bel 8.080
Karpaty Lviv ** Ukr 7.910
Maritimo Funchal ** Por 7.659
Baník Ostrava ** Cze 7.395
IF Elfsborg ** Swe 7.338
FC Utrecht ** Ned 7.309
Sturm Graz Aut 6.915
Randers FC * Den 6.470
Motherwell ** Sco 6.158
Hibernian Sco 6.158

I would say they have no chance against the top 8 teams. Are approximately 2:1 dogs against the teams from romania, bulgaria, ukraine, russia, france. And are approximately 3:2 dogs against the balance of the field. so maybe they have approximately a 25% shot at getting to the fourth round?

Hopefully they draw a Scottish team. Best of Luck!!

We should advance for the third round, we are looking strong and are seeded. I agree with you guys, if the draw is kind to us we have a chance to reach the Group Stages.

But with the strength and motivation of the fans we could do it. With all the respect to Bnei Yehuda, but things would be tougher for PSV for example if they came to play Maccabi Tel Aviv.

This seasons Maccabi yea.

Looking at the list, and assuming it will be narrowed down to like 8 possibilitys or something, with like 2-3 top teams being a possiblity, I really think aslong as we don't get one of Liverpool, Juventus, Galatasaray, Besiktas, Sttutgart and Sporting Lisbon, we are atleast in my books a 50/50 chance of passing the rest, with some being 60/40 to our favour or to thiers.

I got a feeling we'll have a good looking draw and will qualify, aslong as we continue in the same path as last year, being a team above all and not turn into individuals.. that means everyone put pressure on the other team from thier half, and share the ball and go fast on our counters.

Shiran Yeini will need to step his game up incase Alberman won't come, as he will be our destoryer, he's the one who sets us off, I really wish he would improove his passing range and accuresy, as that would lift his game up in so many levels.

Let's hope for the best! 2nd round draw is in 20 minutes.

The draw has been made and Maccabi Tel Aviv will play or UE Santa Coloma (rivals of FC Santa Coloma the team that played against us some years ago) from Andorra or Mogrens from Montenegro.

In theory Maccabi Tel Aviv are favourites and have a good chance to advance. First leg on July 15th.

Well actually it is the same schedule. The early stages of the European competitions normally begin in mid July, so don´t think there is nothing different this season.

Yeah Israeli teams in recent history had some hard time with Scandinavian teams, but Hapoel Tel Aviv let´s say cut the curse after beating AIK and advancing two years ago.

True...now they are being tested by the Bosniaks........

I think they will do alright. They build their team well and shown it last year....
