Europa League Matchday 3: Hapoel TLV - SK Rapid Wien

VS

Group stage - 22 October 2009 21:05 (CET) (21:05 local time) - Bloomfield - Tel Aviv - Israel

Not an easy match. Rapid Wien have proven to be a great club causing problems for both hamburg and celtic. However, hapoel have a chance at going through to the next round as long as they win at home and hold some good results away. I think Hapoel has the ability to go ahead and beat the Austrians in bloomfield. Make us proud communists :frustrat::frustrat:

This is a must win, if they win here, then second or first would be very realistic.

Home advantage should really ease up for them. Hapoel plays well at home and I hope they will continue their winning ways.

Best of luck!
Hoping they would come out with a 1-0 or 2-0 win on this. Rapid is strong, but Israel teams can tame Austrian teams well in UEFA

Hapoel have all the conditions to win this game despite Rapid Wien´s recent good form.
The reds have been playing good football, but are not being able to translate their good displays with good finishing therefore losing silly points in the league. If they want to go through the next stage they will have to be more accurate.

This game is certainly crucial for their their hopes.

Very true.

I was hoping they would win the game last round but they ended up getting only a point from Ashdod!

Kapfenberger SV 0 - 1 Rapid Wien
Rapid Wien 3 - 1 Wiener Neustadt
Celtic 1 - 1 Rapid Wien V
Wiener Neustadt 0 - 4 Rapid Wien
Sturm Graz 1 - 0 Rapid Wien

This is the last 5 games of Rapid. Currently they are in 4th place in the League. They lost the last game 1-0 to S. Graz which is not all pretty...

Of course the record boosts moral and gives confidence, but since it is a different competition with different pressure and Hapoel is having a good display in Europe this season.

i see a small 1-0 for hapoel, hapoel plays well in bloomfield. Still, i don't underestimate the austrians. The Germans did and look what happend to them.

I had the opportunity to see Rapid play this past summer while traveling through europe. It was quite the coincidence. Im on the Vienna underground and I notice alot of football fans out, it was mid-July, so I know the season didnt start yet, but i thought their might be a friendly. Then I noticed people wearing Liverpool shirts, so its Liverpool vs Rapid Wien in a friendly at the Ernst Happel Stadium. I managed to get a ticket from a scalper outside for about 30EU, quite pricey, but when in Rome....
The ticket was for the Rapid Ultra's section. Just to be safe, I bought a Rapid scarf as well, and its a good thing I did because those fans are absolutely NUTS. I was right in the thick of it all. When I got to my seat, I was surround by drunk Rapid fans who told me that its not my seat and I could sit in the row in front. I showed them my ticket and we started to chat it up. He got quite friendly and it was all cool from their.
Very intense atmosphere, and their homes games are in a smaller stadium, so the away game is going to be tough.
Well anyways, Rapid won 1 - 0.
One thing that happened that I found hilarious was when Rapid scored, but it was ruled offside. No argument, clear offside, but my section went berserk, and I noticed in the top left corner of my eye and big cup of beer flying down to the rows in the front, splashing everyone. Pretty funny.

Well thats the story of the day.
Key player for Rapid is Steffan Hoffman. He actually scored with a free kick during that game....and yes Benayoun did play.

When i get home from work, Ill post some pics

Vienna equalized it later on after the goal. Hapoel was playing back and at ease....
