Ben Haim signs at Portsmouth for 4 years

So is said in the Israeli press while SkySports declares it is talks for no (click here for the article). This will be a great move for him in my opinon. With toure in his position at city along with lescot...i have to agree with sky that he doesn't have a chance playing. P'mouth he'll get a chance to play and he needs that.

Is this a sign that Avram Grant is close to coach Portsmouth aswell?

Even better, he will give Ben Haim to start.

Hopefully he get's playing time, with a smaller club, but portsmouth is the worst team in the premier league now and they could get relegated.

2 Israeli aces are in the Portsmouth helm: Grant coaching and Ben Haim defending...... It will be perfect! And 3-4 games dont mean nothing for anyone in the premiership

I don't think it's very likely that Avram Grant will become the manager of Portsmouth. Alexandre Gaydamak (the son of Arcadi Gaydamak, who owns Beitar Jerusalem) has sold the club to Sulaiman from the United Arab Emirates. I don't think he would approve of an Israeli head coach. I mean... can you imagine someone from the Arab countries appointing an Israeli to manage their business?

Portsmouth has been a good port for Israeli players lately.

Eyal Berkovic, Ben Sahar, Tal Ben Haim, Avram Grant (had already a spell as technical manager at the club), plus the fact that the owner is Jewish.

Also it was the club that bought Yakubu Aiyegbeni from Maccabi Haifa.

Yeah but they gave literally NO time for Ben Sahar. I won't forgive them for that.

I've always loved Yakubu though. He just seems like a great guy in general.

I think Ben Haims career might pick up again when he is in portsmouth. They literally have good season and herrendous season and many people dont see them fit to compete in the EPL.

With all else equal...if Ben Haim saves the day...people will see him in better light and would want him elsewhere possibly pompey picking up a european spot

Okay, that's true, but Danny Fiszman is only the majority stock holder, I believe. He doesn't actually own all of Arsenal, but he is a non-executive director at Arsenal, too, which is bad enough for any Arab.

Actually to be fair... several of the people who own large amount of Arsenal stocks are Jewish.

Not anymore... Alexandre Gaydamak sold Portsmouth to Sulaiman. The same guy that brokered a deal between Manchester City and those other guys from the United Arab Emirates.

Well i dont see a reason why they need to be anti-Israeli...if it gets them success than by all the best means...

I recall reading a stategy report in Itijhad (sp?) which is a emirates airline. They put Israel as a 'soon to be destination'. Talk about winds of change...

Ben Haim played full 90 minutes in Portsmouth defeat to Everton.
7 games and 7 defeats for Pompey this season.

Well it is an awful start of season, but they have still time to revert situation. Last season Tottenham had a terrible start, but manage to overcome. Hull City started off in the CL zone and almost ended in First Division.
There is time, but they must do something quickly.

portsmouth are by far at their worst this season, i think they actually made a record to most losses in a row since the start of the season...really a shame, this club was seen strong at some point (2 seasons ago everyone was so optimistic)
