Guy Assuilin

The guy has been called up to play with the first team in England against Tottenham. Is good old pepe gonna let him have a spot on the first team this season or will it be Barcelona B once again?

It is certainly a good news! We will see a Barcelona derby this season between Sahar and Asulin.

The only concern i have is that, both Asulin and Sahar have the risk of not being able to play for out NT because of the same old story of the army service.
Two weeks ago when Sahar signed with Espanyol it was reported that he wasn´t authorized to play for the NT. Asulin could follow the same path.

yes, very problematic and very foolish, but i thought they cleared it up with sahar that every time he comes to visit in israel he will do some kind of service for the country..

i thought so aswell, since he has played in the qualifiers normally so far. But apparently the issue has renewed.

With Guy Assuilin - since its kinda pre-season and all, i think Barcelona knows that they dont wanna put their good guns against Tottenham, who has improved but not quite strong like they are. So i think they will try and let the young players come out and play..Assuilin may get a shot i think..

With Sahar, Assuilin and the IDF - i thought that they can have a law saying that when your abroad, you dont have to serve on special merits and the best you can do is in your spare time while you are not playing soccer or training..than you can come and work or do an internship without pay for an Israeli consultate or embassy near you.... im pretty sure both of them can do some service to the Israeli consultate general of the Cataylun province

Is Assuilin really how one would spell his name in English?

I certainly have always thought it to be Gai Assulin

Well he's played in preseason with the full squad. The only match I saw of him was when Barca played Tottenham at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola was just saying that he doesn't want any benchwarmers and would rather turn to youth (unless he gets someone like Cesc), so that's a good sign.

Too early to tell if he'll be involved with the first team from the beginning.

I believe Asulin will be on the senior squad, but he won´t have many opportunities on the starting lineup.
Maybe a starter only in the Copa del Rey or something like that.

Don't think so, he's not ready for first team football yet in a senior level imo, he's too weak right now.

Training with the likes of Messi etc and playing in Barcelona Athletic will do him much more help then going to some low class team that hardly play him.

If he wants to be the best, he should learn from the best, and training and maybe playing with Messi can help him so much if he desides to take him under his belt and tuter him or smth.

Btw Gai was called up by Pep Guardiola for the squad against Manchester City today along with 3 other youth players.

He might get a few minutes again, hopefully he will play like he knows and wows the crowd like he did in Serbia.

Very active, kept wanting the ball and made movment to get it, very quick with the ball, reacted the second he got the ball without wasting much time.. you can see he's a very intellegent player.

The only bad thing is like I said he can't compete with senior football level players just yet, due to him not having the required strength, and balance, to hold them off like for example Messi does.

You could see the first time he got the ball on the wing immidietly he tried to take on the defender, but he just brushed him aside and took the ball easily.. and after it he didn't even try, and in the times he did he lost the ball, but you could see his first reaction is to take on players which means in youth levels he prolly ace it.

thats normal for an 18 year old as it comes with time and game experience.. Messi didn't have it at first.. but still Gai just looks too weak, alot more then Messi or Bojan were when they started.

If he does however get this sorted, he is defenetly ad Barcelona meterial player, without a doubt.. I really enjoyed him unlike his first few games in England.

Bright future ahead of him

PS Tal Ben-Haim did an impressive work on Zlatan suprisigly, closed him down and kept him from getting the ball throughout the half.

Cheers for that Stanko. What do you think his chances are for the first team this upcoming season?
