Maccabi Haifa Thread

Maccabi Haifa have already started their training camp in Austria and have played their first match in which they beat Spartak Moscow 1-0.
The lonely goal was scored by Georgian player Giorgi Develiashvili who is in trials at the club.
Another player in trials is Portuguese defender Jorge Teixeira who until now has pleased the staff.

Haifa are playing their second match in their training camp in Austria and again with a Russian club. This time it is Lokomotiv Moscow.

Currently the game in the 35th minute and Haifa are leading 2-1. Kiyal scored first, Dekel Keinan in an own goal equalized for Lokomotiv, but Gadir placed Haifa again on the lead.

Lineup: Davidovich; Meshumar, Keinan, Teixeira, Masilela; Kiyal, Kolma, Golasa, Gadir; Belo, Dvalishvili

At the game ends with a 2-1 win for Haifa. The greens are starting well their season with not only the results, but are having a good level of play for the beggining of the season. The Georgian international Vladimir Dvialishvili had another good game and will most likely be signed officially next week and could possibly be in the squad for the Uefa Champions League qualifiers in 10 days against Glentoran.

We never had a Portuguese player come to Israel. This is an interesting... We are starting to get French, Spanish and soon Portuguese, German and possibly English players in our League? :rollani:

It seems that his former team - AEP Prahos in Cypricot is managed by Eyal Lahman so it makes sense why he made his way to Israel.

I think the team is named Paphos. Cyprus and Greece are becoming a new market for Israeli players and coaches and the other way around. We had in the past some players already making this way. I recall Eric Ejiofor that played for Maccabi Haifa is Cyprus, Yannick Kamanan also played there, Radoslaw Michalski and many others.

Moshiko Mishaelof recently signed with Limassol if i am not mistaken.

Haifa held today their third and last training match before next weeks clash against Glentoran.

The game was against Viktoria Plzen from the Czech Republic and the greens drew 1-1. Rafaelov in the 14th minute put Haifa ahead, but the lead was cancelled when Horvath converted a penalty for the Czechs in the 40th minute.

In the second half a lot of changes and the level of play also went down. But we could have an idea what Elisha Levi has in mind for the CL qualifiers.

The starting lineup: Davidovich; Meshumar, Keinan, Teixeira, Masilela; Kolma, Boccoli, Ghadir, Rafaelov; Katan, Dvalishvili.

Entered in the second half: Kiyal, Belo, Maimon, Arbetiman, Golasa, Edri, Rensford, Harazi (thought he had retired)

Haifa came back from their training camp in Austria today with a good record of 2 wins (against Spartak and Lokomotiv Moscow) and a draw against Plzen. Not only the results pleased coach ELisha Levy, but the way the team has played dominating the matches against their opponents and the team seems to be very well spirited for the clash against Glentoran for the CL qualifiers on Wednesday at Kiriat Eliezer.

New signings Georgian striker Vladimir Dvalishvili and Portuguese defender Jorge Teixeira have impressed and are expected to start.

In other news, Leonard Krupnik had agreed terms with New York in the MLS.

nice to see berko is still on the same page as me. By the way did anyone watch that press conference yesterday...Glentaron's top play Hamilton was seen smoking next to his manager....now we can look at this in two ways, the realistic way would say that we are going to humilate them here and in N. Ireland. Yet, the second and more paranoid thought is that all these actions lead our boys to think that this team is utter crap and maybe they'll just suprise us and sneak a good result here while we underestimate them.

By the way, I like the signing for the club. Two young players, we needed a defender in the back and apparently the georgian is a solid striker. I also like that we are bringing back bello, poor guy was waiting for the chance, and i was following up on him and he plays well. I think he'll be hungry to prove himself to Levy

Ransford Osei on loan to FC Twente. So how good is this guy?

Good player, but current coach Elisha levy wasn´t much in favor for him. He wasn´t a regular starter last season.

Honestly, Haifa has better players if Twente is intrested in loaning or buying, but maybe in another team with another coach Ransford could play better.

Thanks for the response.

I think they'll see him as one for the future as they've now got experienced Nelson Cuevas on trial for them too.

Cuevas is also a good call. Despit enot being so young he is still fast and has a good vision. Don´t know if he will suit Dutch league since he is physically not very strong.

Who is Twente´s coach for this season?

Steve McLaren?

Well, i remember in the beggining of last season that Avram Grant former as soon as he left Chelsea, was linked to coach Twente. When he declined the offer then they went after McLaren.

How did Twente play last season? Are the fans satisfied with him?

Twente were a well-oiled machine before he came in, so he didn't have to change too much. Last season under him, they continued playing well and unsurprisingly he became popular with the fans

This season will be a test though. They've lost their most dangerous attackers, Elia and soon to be Arnautovic , and got a whole stack of new players.

The match against Sporting will be a good test for him.

Yeah, at least it's not an impossible task for them like last year against Arsenal. That said, Sporting obviously are a very very good side and obviously are favourites.

Well, so i wish you guys good luck!

If i am not mistaken Ben Sahar who had a good spell with De Graafschap last season was linked to join Twente and Ajax, but opted for Espanyol.
