Winter Classic - Buffalo, NY

VS.

Anybody going to watch this? It will be an outdoor game between the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins. The weather is reportadly going to be bad too which should add to the atmosphere. I think it is a good idea and something the NHL could use to build the fan support and gain some interest. I always though it was a good idea to have a Rangers-Islanders game at an outdoor venue

The game starts at 1pm

When someone asks for the most famous Serbian exports, you answer "Slivovica, Tesla i ZORIC!!!"

this looks like something out of 1940-1950 Soviet Union now all we need is the Soviet troops patrolling the rink p

well thats still up for debate.
this game was done purely for marketing purposes, that we can all agree on. did it work?....probably, to a degree. i wonder why the NHL chose to do this game on Jan.1
why put this game up against all the bowl games?.....you think people down south were tuning into this game to watch some guy come out and fill a hole in the ice?...and all the stoppages?....for the casual fan, this game did not keep their interest. for us die-hards though, it was PERFECT. loved all the snow coming down, building up on the ice, making passes that much more difficult.
i had a point here, but i think i lost it...lol.

I think it was good, it had a positive response from a lot of the media, and most of the bowl games were less than competitive...outside of a few games. I'm sure it did a better rating than if it was a normal Pittsburgh - Buffalo game

about the south, I think that's where the NHL is wrong. They should realize the game will never be popular in the south and even in some parts in the west. They need to market the games in the northeast, great lakes area etc.. If it was up to me, I'd get rid of half of these teams in the NHL (Florida, Pheonix, Atlanta etc..)

I was flipping back and forth between the Michigan bowl game and the hockey game so i was glad there was so many stoppages... but i must admit i was watching on CBC because your coverage was 10X better then having to listen to a baseball guy in Bob Costas.

The NHL should do this every year on the Saturday between SB Sunday and AFC/NFC Championship weekend. That is one week when there is nothing on besides college basketball and golf.

Future games i would like to see:
1. Big House (Wings vs Leafs)
2. Yankee Stadium (Rangers vs Islanders)
3. Beaver Stadium (Flyers vs Pens)
