I'd replace Chara with A. Markov.

Luongo to miss All-Star Game

With travel demands and his wife expecting a baby, the Vancouver Canucks have allowed netminder Roberto Luongo to skip the NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 26 and miss the team's first game back after the break.

Luongo's wife Gina is expecting their first child later in the spring and the couple plans to spend their time off at their offseason home in Fort Lauderdale.

Luongo was voted by fans on Tuesday to be the Western Conference starting goaltender. With 263,221 votes, he was selected as a starter for the second consecutive time. He has a 20-12-3 record with a 1.96 goals against average - second-best behind Detroit's Chris Osgood (1.68).

Dany Heatley (Ottawa) got injured in yesterday's game vs Detroit and will also miss the All Star Game.

I wonder who'll replace him. My guess, either Sundin or Malkin.

Malkin deserves it, but so does Sundin actually. btw Savi, good to see an NHL fan in Belgium, or western Europe for that matter.

Marc Savard has been added to the Eastern Conference roster for the All-Star Game, which will take place on Jan. 27 at Atlanta's Philips Arena. Savard will replace Ottawa's Dany Heatley, who suffered a shoulder separation on Saturday.

Savard has 11 goals and 36 assists in 43 games this season. This will be his first All-Star Game.

So no Sundin/Malkin.. Although this is pretty good choice, Savard's a very underrated player.

Well Savard has 47 points and Malkin has 49. Maybe Malkin will play in the YoungStars game again.

Savard really is an underrated player. His stats are even better considering the lack of scoring forwards at Boston especially when Bergeron has been out basically the whole year.

I thought he was overrated coming out of Atalanta because he was centering guys like Kovalchuk, Hossa etc. But in actuality he's his own player. Well deserved.

I'd rather choose Ribeiro then, he's in a lethal form at the moment

Well i wouldn't go that far about Savard, plus he deserves some recognition for his play this season and the past couple.

Id rather see Malkin but what can you do.

I wouldn't say Malkin's a superstar.. yet. Plus, he's like what, 21 or 22 years old? He'll have plenty of chances to play for the All Star Team in the future. You can't blame them for picking Savard, who's arguebly Boston's best player and like ASR said, put's up a lot of points without any star forwards (unlike Malkin, who plays with Crosby).
