Alexey Kovalev is really wonderfuly talented player

"What is a club in any case ?
Not the buildings or the directors,
or the people who are paid to represent it.
It's not the television contracts, get-out clauses,
marketing departments or executive boxes.
It's the noise, the passion,
the feeling of belonging,
the pride in your city."

Steve Webb
Eric Cairns
Ryan Hollweg
Jed Ortmeyer

my defination of exciting in hockey is different, these guys went out and changed momentum with their fights, hits, hard work, forchecking. They may have no scored many goals but they did the dirty work and I think most fans of the old NHL like that

these are the guys who get the crowd and players pumped up, they don't do the work with these European players want to do

Everyone has different tastes. Some like slow, sluggish, less talented players like yourself. I happen to like fast and skillfull players.

Ortmeyer is anything but slow and sluggish, he isn't a "thug" type player either, I don't think he fights. He is actually a fast player and a great PK guy (like Park from the Islanders).

He is a good 3rd/4th line player, who can kill penalties and bring some excitement to the crowd and bring some excitement to the team when they are down a goal or need a good momentum push

everytime I go to a Rangers game and he is on the ice there is a buzz because they know something will happen, maybe not a goal, but a turnover, or he will draw a penalty because of his speed

exciting is not also some fancy stick handling then shooting the puck in the crowd (cue Yashin)

many Rangers fans find Sean Avery exciting because of what he brings to the team. He is a guy who you love when he is on your team but hate when you play against him

Personally i couldn't stand the guy even when he was on the Red Wings, took way too many useless penalties... plus he yaps his mouth way too much and is hardly a tough guy reminds me of Mathew Barnaby.

Rangers fans love him because as soon as he came the team started winning. Barnaby and Fluery were also fan favorites at the Garden

Avery actually draws more penalties than he takes from what I see. He is an agitator and can get people to make silly penalties

he had alcohol problems even when he was with the Rangers

Eric Cairns went to England too and he was suspended 5 matches for a fight, in most European leagues fighting is not allowed and could warrent a suspension
