Jeff Samardzija: Baseball over Football

I know this news is a few months old but it can provide good discussion, in my opinion Jeff made the best choice.

Not only is the average football career like 3 seasons, but for him personally he will already be making more money than if he entered the NFL draft. He is making 17 million dollars in 5 years and he has a no-trade clause meaning his future is secured with the Cubs and their organization.

The only negative is that he will not go straight into the Cubs team, he will need at the least 2-3 seasons of minor league baseball before he can make the jump to the majors. As in football, he would probably be a starter once the season starts

Last season, Samardzija made his professional baseball debut for the Cubs organization in Rookie ball for the Boise Hawks and later went on the pitch a few games in A-ball for Peoria.

Overall he was 1-2 in 7 starts with an impressive 2.70 ERA

Well it shows you how in the NFL the league and owners are more sound, while the players suffer. (relatively)

And in MLB, the league and owners are not as well off, not by a long shot- and the players are very well off. (relatively and absolutely)

WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER GIACINTO FACCHETTI, LEGEND OF THE INTERNAZIONALE AND ITALIAN GAME

I bet he will regret it later on just like the idiot Drew Henson who made the same kind of money from the Yankees but never made it to the majors and for the past couple years he was holding a clipboard on the Cowboys sideline. It might be different for Samardzija since he was only a TE and they dont make the same type of money as a QB where as Henson would have been the #1 pick if he came out after his junior year at Michigan and made probably over $40 million although in the NFL they are not guaranteed like in MLB.

Shark was a wide reciever at Notre Dame, and would have been going into the NFL. I've no idea what he'll earn in the MLB, but he was forcasted to be some where between a late 1st round - 2nd round pick.

he is already making like 3.2 million a year, and playing in the minor leagues. The high draft picks in baseball (first 10 rounds) make good bonuses, outside of that you will make a couple thousand a month, depends what level of minors you play in
