NHL Attendances

well it is midway through the second season since the lockout and here are the attendances for each team and the percentage of the arena. About these stats, I don't know how some teams have 100%+ capacity, unless they make people stand at the games p

13. Colorado - 23 - 407,043 - 17,697 - 98.3%
14. San Jose - 23 - 399,388 - 17,364 - 99.3%
15. Carolina - 21 - 360,621 - 17,172 - 91.7%
16. Edmonton - 23 - 387,297 - 16,839 - 98.5%
17. Los Angeles - 27 - 446,801 - 16,548 - 89.5%
18. Columbus - 21 - 346,657 - 16,507 - 91.0%
19. Atlanta - 20 - 321,251 - 16,067 - 86.6%
20. Pittsburgh - 22 - 350,794 - 15,945 - 94.0%
21. Anaheim - 23 - 360,340 - 15,666 - 91.3%
22. Florida - 21 - 321,982 - 15,332 - 79.6%

24. Boston - 22 - 309,945 - 14,088 - 75.6%
25. Phoenix - 21 - 294,436 - 14,020 - 80.0%
26. New Jersey - 22 - 293,717 - 13,350 - 70.1%
27. Chicago - 22 - 290,697 - 13,213 - 64.5%

30. St. Louis - 22 - 249,172 - 11,326 - 70.0%

Good: The typical names are doing good: Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, NY Rangers, Calgary etc..

Surprises +: Tampa Bay, being 3rd in attendance and selling out every home game, to be honest that was a shock for me. San Jose too, wouldn't expect Cali is a hockey state

Bad: From 17th place and below (excluding Pittsburgh), especially when you have cities like LA, Boston, St.Louis, Chicago, NY/NJ Metro area, but some of this numbers are ridiculous

Surprises -: Boston, I thought that was a hockey town? I know the Patriots are of more importantace though

In defence of the Islanders, the tickets are the second most expensive in the league despite being at most a .500 team, and the arena is a pain in the ass to get to, but it has potential

for example, yesterday was a sellout for them, Islanders have this promotion with an energy drink where students (who the NHL should target) can sit even in the lower level for $20, they have done this about 4-5 times now and all huge numbers, but your average midweek game against Atlanta on a Tuesday night will draw at most 11,000

the arena isn't very hockey friendly, especially the upper level, last few rows where I always buy the tickets but move down of course. For example, MSG, there is no bad seat in the house except for maybe the dead last row where you may not be able to see the scoreboard but you will still see all the action

Actually at JLA there are standing room only tickets but our attendance is not over 100% plus there have been empty seats this season because the corporate seats are there as usual and most of the time those people dont even bother to show up unless its a big game or there is a ceremony like the Yzerman number retirement.

San Jose is actually a great hockey city and i was suprised by that until i saw some stats a few years back and it showed how they always pack the arena. Its the kind of city like Green Bay where they have only one pro team so everyone supports them to the max. As far as Chicago goes they used to be a very good hockey city back in the early 90's but there owner has really screwed the fans and it seems like they have lost interest in the team.

They had some interesting stuff about this on the radio today and it seems like everyones is doing poorly this year and the only reason revanue went up was because a lot of teams raised there ticket prices. The ratings on TV have been brutal and i wonder why?? hmm lets see they are on VS and a couple days ago they were showing the Jackets-Blackhawks game. :rollani: On top of all this the All Star game will also be on VS and it will be on Wednesday night instead of Sunday like its been in the past. They even said that ratings in Canada have been down which goes to show you that the sport is truelly on life support... what are Bettman and the rest of his idiots trying to do? how is this guy still in charge after the lockout and everything bad thats happen to the league?
