Lou, you're making the same mistakes your coaches made

Coach Lamoriello is making the same mistakes his coaches did in the past: trying get match-ups on the road. It's funny because he gave an interview on OLN before the 3rd period saying that the Devils had to play like they did before. Well, Lou, Devils got into the playoffs by rolling four lines. The Wiemer-Rasmussen-Janssen line had only one shift in the game That one shift could have been the key to scoring that first goal, Monday. Eric Staal double shifts, so why try keeping the Pandolfo-Madden-Marshall line on him? When Staal is playing right-wing with Doug Weight, why not use the Elias-Brylin-Langenbrunner line? Maybe this will get Elias to be more alert on defense. Instead dropping down to circle when the puck is on his side in the corner, he waiting for break-out pass that's not coming!

Why is Brad Lukowich and Rafalski killing penalties!! I rather use Hale and Klee or rotate them with Rafalski! Lukowich is a defensive liability!

Carolina is the better team period IMO the Devils overachieved especially coming on late in the years.

During the season, I think the series went 2-1-1 for the Devs. Carolina is very talented, but the Devils haven't play their normal game. Their offense is limited, but when they forecheck, they receive several scoring chances with turnovers. In every series that the Devils try to match lines (on the road), they do not have the same jump they normally do when they roll four lines. The fourth line forecheck very aggresively and cause many turnovers. In game 3, they drawn two penalties which New Jersey failed to convert. Trying to keep Madden on Staal (who normally has double shifts) disrupts the rhythm of the other lines. The other problem is that "long ice" change in the 2nd period. Many teams have exploited them when they get caught in a bad change. The Devils' system is defense first and then counter-attack. The Elias-Brylin-Langenbrunner line can check effectively, and the Parise-Gomez-Gionta line has been backchecking well (Gomez has done very well.)

There you go again, Lou!

Why are you bothering matching lines:frustrat: Elias-Gomez-Gionta can play a little defense. Parise-Zajac-Langenbrunner is the best two-way line. Just roll four lines! #1 vs #1 is much better match-up for the Devils because of Gomez speed. I am the only one who remembers that you can wear down the opposing d-men by continuous forechecking Tire defensemen usually commit lazy penalties (but I guess it doesn't do anything if you don't convert!). I don't remember when the last time the opponents try to match the Devils' lines!
