Andrej Mrkela is the son of Mitar Mrkela who used to play for Crvena Zvezda back in the 1980's. His father played in Beşiktaş in the early 90's after moving from Twente.
Andrej Mrkela is an out and out winger, plays mainly on the right. More of a crosser rather than someone who'll cut in from his flank and try shots on goal. Quite hard working from what I've seen but doesn't really have that last yard of pace where he can beat his players just by outrunning them. His crossing can be good if he gets into good positions, not really super productive in the JSL but there's been other cases where players haven't been just to do really well once they've moved because of the defensive nature in Serbia.
