It will be a very demanding double, with few days inbetween.
Hungary´s squad looks very poor TBH

I guess Iordanescu is aiming for 2 pointsp

We´ll have a hard time with such situation, coach and stupid decitions

Ioanitoaia finally wrote something with sense, about how Budescu being left out reminds of Lucian´s absence

Iordanescu will prove nothing but what a stubborn idiot he's being. Along with the rest of those involved in this mess. It's a joke, no other nation comes close to shooting themselves in the foot over and over the way we do.. the Hungarian team might be weak, but when we're purposely limiting ourselves so badly... I think we will have to hope for a miracle that guys like Prepe, Hoban, Tanase, Pintilii, Grigore, etc are dropped and that at least a couple of Budescu Stanciu Cernat Muresan Anton Nistor etc receive deserved calls. Abroad players-wise, I'd much rather have Bicfalvi and Bumba back in the team despite where they play rather than the likes of Prepe and Tanase mentioned earlier. But again, this is dreaming when we already know what's going to happen..

Best we can realistically hope for IMO:
------------------Pantilimon
Papp/Matel---Chiriches---Moti/Goian---Rat
-----------Prepe/Hoban---Sanmartean
Torje-----------------------------------Maxim
-------------Stanciu/Chipciu (Budescu if we're extremely lucky but looks almost impossible)
----------------Keseru/Marica

We'll probably see:
---------------Pantilimon/Tata
Papp--------Chiriches---Grigore--------Rat
------Hoban/Prepe-----Sanmartean (if fit, otherwise Hoban/Pintilii)
Torje/Popa------------------------------Tanase
-------------------Maxim
-------------------Keseru

What I would like to see based on the abroad pre-list and from domestic players (my choice not what I think is realistic..):

------------------Pantilimon
Matel------Chiriches-----Moti-----Rat
--------Muresan/Anton----SM*
Bumba/Torje---------------------Maxim
--------------------Budescu**
--------------------Keseru

Subs: Tata, Tosca/Vatajelu/Goian, Anton/Muresan, Nistor, Torje/Bumba/Popa, Stanciu, Marica

* Nistor to come on for Lucian if needed. Either case would be perfect since we need a playmaker alongside a destroyer or complete CM (contributing well both ways) is what we desperately need in the middle. Even Cernat playing at CM if these two options aren't possible, but of course only Lucian is realistic to be used for this role, and if that's not possible it will be some dud like Prepe or Hoban.

** Stanciu could do well here too but obv Budescu is ahead of him.

Mihai Roman and Florin Tanase could probably do well too, certainly better than some of our current options, but probably not a great game to throw them into first time.. same goes for Tosca but I liked what I've seen of him so far and most of our options are quite shit there..

I'd also like to see Cernat but Sanmartean, Maxim, Stanciu, etc are ahead of him. But obviously a much better option to have than Tanase for example..

Anton is not playing at Pandurii, I hope he goes to Russia ASAP.

About the position behind the striker, Budescu and Stanciu look the best options. I'd call both, but probably only Stanciu will be selected (at best). Cernat would be an option for me in the case he would be healthy and not injured.
I think Iordanescu will use Maxim or Sanmartean there. The lack of CMs gives more chances to Maxim in that position.

Iordanescu's offensive midfield (IMO):

Popa/Torje----Maxim/SM-----Chipciu/Tanase

We also have to consider that we´ll play on friday and on monday. Therefore, it´s very unlikely we´ll see the same team twice. That will make it necessary to use other players

Yeah, I doubt Lucian can play 180' in 3 days

More reason to call Budescu and/or Cernat (wait, is Cernat injured?)

In an article here they said he compromised his NT spot because he was ironic @ Anghel after the game when he was substituted or smth.
And as Iordanescu is an old communist he probably cares more about this shit about what Budescu really plays, only the pressure from the press made him act differently now.
Iordanescu has many things to do, many places to see, grandchildren to raise, his place is not as hc at the nt.

They may use that as an excuse. It´s easy, you ignore a player, piss him off, the media drives him crazy about the subject, and when he has one comment about the unfair criticism, they use that to justify not calling him.

Piturca and Lucescu Jr did the same with Mutu. The coach doesn´t want to call him but hates the media pressure aswell. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what happens after 2 more abysmal performances without Budescu. Only Sanmartean or Maxim waking up can save him from this situation

McLaren, I thought you didn't care about the NT... You being a Dinamo fan and them selecting only Steaua players I can sort of understand p

Regarding Iordanescu he's a bit too old for this shit.

Whereas Budescu, I bet they decided not to call him for the slap vs Cojocaru

That goes for 3/4 of the people of my generation here.

That doesn't mean some things would change but when you have Iordanescu as coach and players are still selected for market interest, the team plays as ugly as chupacabra don't be surprised if it will soon die for good.

I suggest we use our best squad against our eternal rivals HUNgaria, then aim for a 0-0 borefest vs Greece using Iorda's, Piti's and Razvanel's favorites. Too bad Cocis isn't called up, the little rising MLS star he is.

I think Marica hit the nail on the head:

"Mie îmi place Budescu, are calitate, marchează, este eficient, își face datoria. Dar decizia îi aparține lui nea Puiu (n.r. selecționerul Anghel Iordănescu). Degeaba spunem noi, poate nea Puiu vrea să ne apărăm la Budapesta și are nevoie de jucători care să alerge, să muncească", a declarat Marica la Digi.

I think it's rather important Hungary and N Ireland draw in Belfast while Greece should easily beat Hungary and win in Belfast if they play 50% of what their team is capable of.

Yeah, but I think Greece played at 10% of what they're capable of. I'm not sure I'd expect a change in this campaign.

Exactly, they probably are too preoccupied with their clubs while like many teams they started this campaign very uninterested because of the easy format, not to mention their usual easy draws in the qualifications, since winning the Euro, and found themselves in a deplorable position.
Others like Turkey at least started regaining form in the last matches.

Did he really say this? I can´t believe it. Even if that was the case (Iordanescu deserves to be fired just for that) wanting to defend in one game doesn´t justify leaving out of the callup an offensive player. If you "plan" fails and you get scored on, or in the other game, you´ll need offensive power
