Ukraine vs. Romania || Friendlies in Austria

Well, we might as well open this thread to share our frustrations at the state of the NT, the abysmal form we're in, but hey...

Lil' Luce can prove he's changed. Of course he won't, but when it comes to the NT I still think of the 1998 or 2000 NT. I can't imagine the NT as havin' this shitty gameplan, so I keep on hopin'...

This friendly we might have a CL winner playing for our team, and that might be important.

Anyway, for those who don't know, here's the selection list (we can use this thread for the Austrian friendlies as well, I s'pose).

GKs: Lobont, Pantilimon, Lung jr.

DFs: Maftei, Dananae, Chivu, Goian, Tamas, Galamaz, Rat, Sepsi

MDs: Roman, Cocis, Radoi, Ghioane, Florescu, Radut, Tanase, Deac

FWs: D. Niculae, N. Dica, An. Cristea, Bilasco (and Mazilu)

So... any comments welcome. It's still early... So I won't say much more.

Razvan Lucescu will continue with his game plan until the moment he's getting fired. The selections kind of showcase that imo.

The positive note compared to previosu selections is that he called some young players. Before this time the team consisted of players of 28 years old or above. Now he called Lung, Sepsi, Radut and Deac to add them to Tanase and Panti. But again we see strinking and hard to explain absences such as Radu, Muresan, Sanmartean, Stancu or Torje. At this point we can´t expect change any more, only a good work from the gameplan he uses, and that is scary

According to some media outlets Goian will not join the team to Lvov, but will go to Austria for the other two friendlies. I'm not sure this is exactly... accurate, but it may well be.

Good job GSP. The first practice, eh? That explains why he lost so horribly against Israel without even getting a pass right, doesn't it? :rollani: And even better job to GSPTV. That video gives the impression our players are lazy and unmotivated. Plus no one even looks at Razvan )

That team does not look too bad. Might have some difficulty with Roman and Dananae there, but they'll have to step up if they wanna be starters, and they can prove their worth in the next week or so.

Lobont... Anyway, it's alright, I think each goalie will play one game.

I like the team, on paper at least. Balanced defence, altough Dananae might not be 100%. In the middle Radoi could give the strenght we missed as he showed in the Euro, while Tanase and Ghioane should treat the ball well. Roman should be the one to add a change of pace, along with Cristea. Bilasco doesn´t convinve me for the NT but his place will be taken by Marica anyway.

Yeah, maybe, but it's hard to not play 8 months then go directly to your best performances. Personally, I'd prefer Sapunaru in full form there given his physicality. Of course, Sapunaru is not in the squad. So Dananae *should be* starter against Ukraine. I'll be glad if he really will start.

I agree with foresta here... Dananae had a long term injury to overcome and definately isn't at his best yet. Having said that, it's true that we have serious deficiancies on the right spot with only Sapunaru or Panin being the other possible options. Sapu is the most experienced but sadly not the most disciplined though.

Bilasco is a worker and he's superb aerially. He can keep a defence busy and atleast his attitude seems correct. I still don't rate Roman as our best option on the right but I don't know who else to trust there.

PRO TV connected very late. They didn´t even show the Romanian anthem. I guess the commercials are more important.

PROTv is the least professional big TV station in Romania.

There's something wrong with the ball?

So far Tanase is really bad, but Andrei Cristea is doing very well.

In fact, Tanase is doing horrible... Maybe it's the ball? Jabulani seems very bad as well.
