What will this campaign bring us?

Will it finally bring us pride for our NT and a good game plan? Or will it just bring us sadness? Oh, so many questions....

I was just reading the thread for the Slovenia tie, which was pretty much our NT's downfall (although that campaign wasn't a bright moment either), and I saw that at least our boys played well... And Contra's attitude at the end of the tie said it all. They played well and wanted to win so badly... We were just unlucky. We were just unlucky, like in 2003, when the Danes tied it last minute. We were unlucky in the 2006 campaign as well, as we had 17 players out for the fateful game vs Armenia. In the 2008 campaign luck shone down on us, and while the game we played was not exhilarating, you could tell Goian and co. wanted to achieve something.

Come the 2010 campaign, we had none of that. It just didn't seem that the players even cared anymore. It didn't seem like the coaches had any idea of a game plan... Or whom to select. It just seemed like the team belonged to nobody. And, even if we don't qualify for 2012 (I'd rather have us qualify for 2014 than 2012, if we could have only one), I don't want to see the team belonging to nobody. I don't want to feel that our players are doing a crap job almost intentionally. I don't want to see our NT playing like Slovenia did, when the posters of the 2001 Romanian XT forum said that Slovenia shouldn't have qualified because of their game style. I don't want to see the Lucescu retreat again, especially against Albania or Belarus.

I'll take nice football and a heart-wrenching miss with a nice new team than a shitty job at qualifying with the same old characters that don't seem to care anymore.

I don't know what to expect from our NT for the next campaign but I'd really suggest to atleast bring either the best players or the most promising talents. Romania has no support because of the club owners and the lackluster performances. And honestly I don't think that Razvan is the type of guy who can solve such a situation.

Apparently the Castrol Report indicates we will qualify for the Euro :smileani: 51% qualification chances, and the 15th most likely to qualify (including Ukraine and Poland).

Surprisingly Bosnia has 13% chances and Belarus 9%. Albania 1%. France 78%, and I believe Luxembourg's chances are about 0 :P

I don't know. I'd say more like France 70, Romania 30, Bosnia 30, Belarus 10, Albania 10.

I'm not really sure what methodology they used... In the end, statistics mean nothing, after all.

Anyway, I propose this 32-man squad:

GKs: Pantilimon, Tatarusanu, Coman
RBs: Maftei, Dananae, Sapunaru
CBs: Chivu, Goian, Galamaz, Radu, Tamas
LBs: Rat, Nesu, Pulhac
RMs: Szekely, Roman, Torje
DMs: Muresan, Radoi, Lazar
LMs: Tanase, Varga, Deac
CMs: Ghioane, Sanmartean, Apostol
SSs: An. Cristea, B. Stancu, Bucur
FWs: Mutu/M.Niculae, Costea, Marica

32 players that should be part of the 'extended squad' IMO. Of course players like Parvulescu or Prepelita, perhaps even M. Costea should be monitored. And former NT players like Lobont, Codrea, Nicolita, D. Niculae in case of force majeure.

I'd scratch Deac and add Herea as an option.

Looks like a good enough squad to qualify. Just need to completely change their mentality and playing style. Also, do we even know if Mutu will be available? Otherwise that would be a disaster circa '06 qualifiers.

@PMC: Herea can also be an option, I agree Deac has been... underperforming... recently.

Mutu... We don't know yet, still a couple of weeks left before sentencing. Maybe a month.

We can play EURO 2012 qualifiers in Bucuresti (Steaua), Cluj (dr. Constantin Radulescu) and Timisoara (Dan Paltinisanu). FRF will also ask UEFA to inspect the stadiums in Piatra Neamt (Ceahlaul) and Craiova (Ion Oblemenco).

Steps to ensure qualification to Euro 2012:

1. Make France keep their current coach (this is most important).
2. Pay off Albania to go easy on us but fight to the death with the other teams. Albania needs the money.
3. Get Hamutovski to play GK for Belarus and allow at least three goals in each match against our team.
4. Start a conflict between the Muslim and Christian players of Bosnia, so they're at half strength. It shouldn't be hard to do.
5. Tell Luxembourg to get out of the way or we'll send some more gypsies over there.

sounds fair to me... I'd also consider Brasov but I don't know what their conditions are like.

Brasov's current stadium isn't all that great, and I'm not sure when (or if) their new one is getting ready. It might be ready for one of the last group matches, but... Who knows?

it's official since some days, Blanc will be France's new coach after the WC. this means no more horrible playing France, they will be much stronger with a real! coach instead of this douchebag Domenech. when France is using it's potential even a "true" strength Romania would have big problems. of course we won't find out because we won't see what our team could probably do...we have our own Domenech...and if i think about Bosnia's 5 off. players in their starting line up i'm really scared: Pjanic, Salihovic, Misimovic, Dzeko and Ibisevic every one of them would be like a piece of bread for our team

Personally, I think we'll get no more than 15 points... And I'm being extremely generous. Hell, the way we're playing I don't think we can be certain of beating Luxembourg! And the worst part is I feel I'm being realistic, not pessimistic!

How the hell did we get here? Where a third place finish is not only possible, but expected! Not to say some might say it's over our expectations.

Bosnia's team scares me to death, more so than France's actually.

What the fu** is point 4 suppose to mean? Bosnia barely has any Christian players beside Misimovic so it won't work out! Now, I seriously hope we get 6 points against Romania just so you could learn a bit more about who we are!

Who the fuck are you?

Relax man, if you looked at the other points they were all exaggerated and ridiculous to show how poor our NT has become. Don't be a buffoon...
