Romania wants joint Euro bid with Hungary?

http://sportgeza.hu/futball/2008/10/...eb-t_rendezni/

article says that the Cluj district president said that they will build a new 30,000 seats arena there and the mayor added that he will
instigate a joint eurofoci bid with Hungary in the near future.

then, it says we should take it as compliment because Romania is 18. in the world ranking and we are 62. so the question arises wether Romania has any chance bidding with us of all countries.

Well it's certainly positive news that our nations want to unite! But first we must finish off the highways you build to our border

There are some projects in Romania. Ion Moina will be rebuild from Scratch, CFR already has a nice stadium and we'll also have the new National Stadium in a couple of years. Not to mention that Rapid will be forced to build a new stadium as their current one is crumbling.

We need a big national stadium that can sit 40 - 50 K people. That's what I want to see our rich owners build!

well homie theres talks of Ghencea being upgraded to a stadium of that size... I'm not sure about that tbh but I see alot happening lately... CFR, Craiova etc. all seem to be keen on rebuilding their stadiums and maybe the other "bigger" clubs will follow their examples as they don't wanna be left behind

Ghencea will never be a "National Stadium".

I'm not necessarily blaming the Steaua fans... But a place where the best Romanian player is 'apostrofat' by 50% of the fans will NEVER be a National Stadium. See Romania-Belarus 3-1.

I don´t think attendances justify a 50.00 seats stadium

Lupi and Gica already mention the new National Stadium that is being built, so that would be the one stadium that would have a capacity of 55 000. From the renders that were posted some time ago, it looked like a very promising project. Here's a link to recent video of the construction site- http://www.realitatea.net/video_4921...or_362301.html

With the Euro's, particularly with co-hosting, one does not need that many stadiums. Austria and Switzerland both had 4 venues each and the stadiums have to have at least 30,000 capacity. So, both Bucharest and Budapest could each have 1 larger stadium and then 3 others of about 30-35 thousand could be dispersed throughout each country.

Ahh, but the one problem is that the Euro is expanding to 24 teams, so the above infrastructure would be for the 16 team format. I guess you can add the necessity of probably two additional stadiums per country. So now, it will be harder for the smaller countries to host or even co host.

I must say it's coming along nicely. We inaugurated 5 km this summer!

5 km in 6 years is pretty damn good if you ask me for a country that is more preoccupied with Alina Plugaru and the Elodia enigma.

Actually Dinamo attendances perfectly justify a 5000-seat stadium :smileani:
