EURO National team´s predictions: The brave ones talk before things happen!

Here i´m defying you a little bit to state what you think will happen with our team. Not so much to see our predicting abilities, but to measure what each of us expects from this tournament. As we fans change our opinions by the day i think it would be interesting to state it now so later we can see if we changed our minds according to the results, if we underrated our team or if we overrated it. We might even learn something in the process:

Here are the topics i thought about, maybe others can add more:

- What players should have been in the squad and replacing who?:

- What will be the line-up against France?:

- What line-up would you choose for the team?

- How will they do against:

France:
Italy:
Netherlands:

- How far will Romania go in the tournament?

- Who will be the goalscorer?

- Who will be the best player?

- What player will disappoint?

- What player will loose his place in the line-up?

-What player will earn a starting place?

- What player will surprise?

- If we do bad in the tournament (according to you), should Piturca stay in his job?

- What players should have been in the squad and replacing who?:

Ghioane or a pure DM like Margaritescu, Lazar or even Ropotan. Maybe Torje, Costea or Deac too.

Replacing Ad.Cristea and a centre back.

- What will be the line-up against France?:

I guess similar to this: Lobont - Contra, Goian, Tamas, Rat - Cocis, Radoi, Chivu - Nicolita, Mutu - Marica

But one of the Niculae can be starter and Petre too.

- What line-up would you choose for the team?

Lobont - Contra, Goian, Tamas, Rat - Cocis, Radoi, Chivu - Dica - Marica, Mutu

- How will they do against:

France: lose
Italy: lose
Netherlands: draw

- How far will Romania go in the tournament?

In the theory we go back home in the first round. If Mutu can make some miracles we can get far.

- Who will be the goalscorer?

Mutu. I have the feeling that M.Niculae and Dica can score too. It will be hard to score goals against these rivals though.

- Who will be the best player?

Mutu, Lobont or Chivu.

- What player will disappoint?

Nobody.

- What player will loose his place in the line-up?

Probably Marica if he doesn´t perform against the Frenchies. Or Nicolita. But they have to be starters first.

-What player will earn a starting place?

Probably M.Niculae, D.Niculae or Petre.

- What player will surprise?

M.Niculae

- If we do bad in the tournament (according to you), should Piturca stay in his job?

Totally YES

[QUOTE=GICA;6410270]- What players should have been in the squad and replacing who?:

Ghioane replacing Moti. Toss up between taking Torje and Ad. Cristea. Perhaps just a tournament too early for Torje to come on the big stage. Then theres lost soldiers who I wish could have been fit and playing regularly like Zicu, Mitea (some of you are asking whos that..?)

- What will be the line-up against France?:

Lobont - Contra, Goian, Tamas, Rat - Cocis, Radoi, Chivu - Nicolita, Mutu - Marica

I dont expect any suprises really with the exception of Nicolita grabbing the starting spot over Fl. Petre. If Marica struggles in the first half I expect any early sub for one of the Niculaes.

- What line-up would you choose for the team?

Lobont - Contra, Goian, Tamas, Rat - Cocis, Radoi, Chivu - Dica - Marica, Mutu

Dica giving us an offensive threat. I just hope, that if we grab the lead we keep attacking and not just sit back and defend. Thats why a 2 goal lead could be crucial to be our team, as it is in any situation.

- How will they do against:

France: Victory!
Italy: same result as always against the italians. loss.
Netherlands: This game all depends on the situation, if its a must win game, then I say victory. However my gut is telling me a draw.

- How far will Romania go in the tournament?

Well I think Romania might go through with 4 points alone, now GD could go in favor or against, considering if it does. Then a quarter final loss. We'll be too tired in the QF after those 3 matches.

- Who will be the goalscorer?

Mutu, thats if he takes advantage of the rare chances, I see him scoring in 2 games. Out of the other strikers it will be hard for them because I think we could actually see all 3 supporting strikers appear in a match. Maybe Chivu will take a sweet FK. Or even a classic Contra goal would be amazing. So I'll say Mutu with 2.

- Who will be the best player?

Lobby will come up big. Goian to have a great tourney. And Mutu showing why he IS world class. And Chivu having an above average tourney.

- What player will disappoint?

Tamas? But I think we can all be proud of everyone of our players despite how poorly they played, if it was any other group I would have higher expectations.

- What player will loose his place in the line-up?

I think everyone will have a stable spot except for marica and nicolita but those are given considering Piti is experimenting. But I dont see anyone being eliminated from the team or any of that.

-What player will earn a starting place?

Ah, no one really. Maybe an earlier sub then usual? Like say Marica is struggling early, maybe a 55th min sub for him? Something like that perhaps.

- What player will surprise?

I have this major feeling M. Niculae will just come alive again, even if its just like 1 goal, he'll have his moment. I've always loved this guy. Hes had some tough times, but he has his opprotunity to rise above it for the NT and he could prove why he was so good way back when. I think the world be will be surprised, (not us) the world will become aware of our beast of a defender, Goian.

- If we do bad in the tournament (according to you), should Piturca stay in his job?

Yes, give him another shot for WC Qualifying. Hes brought so much to this team, discipline, unity, stability with players, despite using so many guys, we've seemed to finally get a solid starting 11 with the exception of a spot or 2./QUOTE]

why so pessimistic GICA? i don't think that our success is dependent on Mutu, we underrate our other players in offense. even Nicolita could surprise and make a perfect cross which leads to a goal. the most important thing is that our defense will be as good as in the qualification. we also have to hope that Chivu and Radoi can play as many games as possible. there is nobody who can replace them.
although Turkey showed yesterday one of the weakest performances i ever saw against a worldclass team they lost in 90 minutes only 1:0 (with a lot of luck). we are much better than them in every department, therefore i'm sure we have the possibilities to play 3 balanced games. getting the results is another thing...

Yeah, i think the same thing. Clearly on international football there aren´t such big differences anymore, and it´s safe to say that Romania is right behind the big teams in tearms of quality, so anything can happen.

I am not sure we would win / But I believe we are quite ready for this match.
We learnt from the first match we lost in 2002 against Senegal.

We fear Romania but we know our qualities.

We will draw or Win but not lose.

Don't misunderstand me.

What I said, is that it could be feeled as a biased statement that 90% of the Romanians predicted a win against France.
Thus, a bit optimistic as a whole.

Of course, you can win against us... but regarding the 2 teams, The 90% of Romanians (or at least Romanian XT posters) saying that are just defying the odds.

Football is not played based on paper, odds, bookies or French arrogance. It's played on the field. So if you lose tomorrow (which is imo equally possible as you winning or drawing), don't cry too much.

Most Romanians in Romania think a draw would be an exploit. Most of XT Romania supporters know our teams better and know we can get a good result.
