FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup - Rio de Janeiro

Group A: Brazil, Solomon Islands, Russia, Mexico

I'd never even heard about this tournament until I looked on the Oceania page on the net. Well done to the Solomon Islands for qualifying for it, especially since they'll be playing Brazil.

Yeah that's where I first heard about it too a couple of months back. They actually qualified by winning the OFC Beach Soccer tournament that was held in Devonport somewhere. I really wanted to check it out but was too busy at the time unfortunately. New Zealand finished third.
Apparently they're going to keep the event over there for the next couple of years, and next years one will be held in March or something I think, so I'll definitely try to see some of the games then.

Brazil and Mexico will be tough opponents, but unlike the Russians, the Solomon Islanders will be used to playing on beaches where you don't freeze to death, so hopefully that will be an advantage
