Its a real shame really. These teams are probably never gonna grow unless there is a massive boom in the Pacific Islands where thousands of Europeans and South Americans immigrate there, sprout many seeds and hopefully a few turn into decent footballers. As long as they love their football though.

Was King Italy..

I don't know that they need South Americans or Europeans specifically. The game is already pretty popular amongst certain people in Fiji and the Solomons, it's just that the population there is tiny, and the countries are never going to be able to support huge numbers of people.

I remember I used to play with several Fijian Indians who were great players. If people in the Pacific region saw one of their own succeed at the game in a big way, and play for a Europen club, I think it'd be a huge boost for the development of the game in Oceania.
Not that it would suddenly solve all the problems or anything, but it would certainly show people there that if they take football seriously it could provide them with a great future

Football is getting bigger here in NZ. We've got two players in the EPL (Ryan Nelson and Simon Elliot), Chris Killen in the SPL and a number of players lower down the ladder (David Mulligan at Scunthorpe, Shane Smeltz at Oldham etc) so thats pretty good going considering virtually nothing gets put into player development over here. Its nowhere near Australia ofcourse, but its better than 10 years ago.

Xavinho mentioned Fijian Indians...well my friend, you're right. I've known some great players from that group too. Solomon Islanders have also taken to football in a big way and their 15-16 years old are as good as any I've seen and same with Tahiti. Its just a shame that theres no money to help those players progress.
