Foreign-based slant to Montenegro squad
The squad for the first official match to be played by the Montenegro national team has been announced with coach Zoran Filipović naming 14 foreign-based players among the 22 to face Hungary in Podgorica on 24 March.
Delibašić left out
The biggest surprise sprung by Filipović was the omission of former FK Partizan, RCD Mallorca and SL Benfica striker Andrija Delibašić, who is currently on loan at Portuguese side SC Beira-Mar. Instead the coach has opted to call-up 17-year-old Partizan forward Stevan Jovetić for the friendly after impressing in 13 appearances for his club this season.
Looking ahead to the historic game, Filipović said: "The most important thing for me is that every player plays with heart and passion for Montenegro. We are going to have a big adventure, but it will not be easy. Most of these players never played together and they might not know each other. This will be our first match and I want to see how they function as a team and what kind of people they are."
