Jamaica, Nigeria play to scoreless draw in Lagos

Jamaica earned a scoreless draw with a largely experimental Nigeria at the National Stadium in Lagos on Wednesday.
Featuring 12 full professionals based in England, the Reggae Boyz played the home side even, which was predominantly comprised of domestic league performers.

Chances were few and far between in the first half, which saw Jamaica control more of the possession, though to little good effect.

The best opportunity came from a free kick by Nigeria captain Romanus Orjinta, which was tipped over the bar by Jamaica goalkeeper Aaron Lawrence. Nigeria 'keeper Vincent Enyeama also made a quality stop on a free header.

Nigeria started the second half somewhat better, but soon began to lose their way.

Striker Peter Ijeh, one of the few foreign-based players on the field for the Super Eagles and whose international debut was eagerly awaited, was taken off in the second half after struggling. He had led Sweden's First Division with 24 goals this season for Malmo FF.

Jamaica again began to have the better of the play, but Lawrence was called upon to make a couple of good stops in quick succession late on as the midfield battle eventually petered out for the tame draw.
