Letter of condolence sent to CSD Municipal; Guatemala federation

19.02.02 - The Football Confederation has sent a letter of condolence to the Federación de Fútbol de Guatemala, and Club Social y Deportivo Municipal, after the tragic death of forward Jhony Alejandro Aldana Chacon last Friday. Aldana suffered a head injury early in the week during a Municipal training session.
Aldana, 21, was developed within the Municipal youth system, playing one season with Club Deportivo Petapa before returning to the club’s senior side to begin the 2001/’02 season. He was a member of the Guatemala squad that won the football competition in the Juegos Centroamericanos last November. Municipal is taking part in the 2002 FC Champions Cup.

The letter, from General Secretary Chuck Blazer, reads: “On behalf of President Jack Warner and myself, I am writing to express our sincerest condolences to your Federation and members after the tragic death of Jhony Alejandro Aldana Chacon of Club Social y Deportivo Municipal last week.”

Please extend our expression of grief to his family and to all members of the Municipal club. We are all impacted by this sad incident.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with your Federation and the football family in Guatemala.”

Sorry to hear about the passing of a good player, especially due to a freaky injury.
