Injury time goal lifts Honduras U-17s 2-1

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Eder Velasquez scored an injury time winner and Honduras defeated Barbados 2-1 Tuesday at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship. The goal off a corner completed "Los Catrachos'" rally from an early first-half deficit and spoiled Barbados' debut at the CONCACAF U-17 finals.

Barbados had the early advantage, taking the lead in the 15th minute lead, when Zari Prescod found himself alone in the box and easily beat goalkeeper Roberto Lopez

Henry scores two, T&T ties Jamaica 2-2

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Shackiel Henry scored a pair of second-half goals to give Trinidad a 2-2 draw with Caribbean rival Jamaica on Tuesday at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

After Jamaica led on Jason Wright's first-half penalty, Trinidad surged ahead before Romario Williams equalized for the "Young Boyz" in the 70th minute.

Jamaica had the better of play, outshooting Trinidad 16-7, and went ahead on Wright's penalty in the 42nd minute.

It was unclear if Mexican referee Ricardo Arellano whistled for a handball or another foul against Trinidad's Neil Benjamin, but the 16-year-old Wright converted easily, leaving goalkeeper Quesi Weston with no chance

Haiti withdraws from U-17 Championship

NEW YORK - The Haitian Football Federation informed CONCACAF Tuesday evening that it can no longer field a team at the confederation's Under-17 Championship in Montego Bay, Jamaica, due to an illness that has struck members of its delegation.

The team will be returning to Haiti as soon as possible.

Haiti lost its tournament opener on Monday 3-1 to Costa Rica and was scheduled to face El Salvador on Wednesday. As a result of Haiti's withdrawal, El Salvador will be awarded a 3-0 win.

That match was to be the first of a doubleheader at Jarrett Park. Due to the cancellation, the 4:30 pm game between Panama and Cuba has been changed to 4:00 pm.

Panama, Cuba draw 0-0; U.S. through to quarters

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Panama wasted a penalty kick and settled for a 0-0 draw against Cuba on Wednesday at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship, a result that qualified the United States for the quarterfinals. Panama will play the Americans, who beat Cuba 3-1, on Friday, needing only a draw to advance. Cuba must hope for a two-goal U.S. victory to have any chance of reaching the knockout round

T&T seals U-17 QF berth with late goal

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Adan Noel scored one minute into second-half stoppage time and Trinidad & Tobago defeated Guatemala 1-0 on Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

Trinidad finished its Group C play with four points from two games, three better than Jamaica and four ahead of Guatemala, which must beat the host on Saturday to advance.

Canada moves into U-17 quarters with 8-0 win

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Michael Petrasso scored three times and Keven Aleman twice to pace Canada to an 8-0 victory over Barbados on Thursday and earn it a place in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

The result also ensured that Honduras will advance from Group D, while U-17 championship debutante Barbados was eliminated with its second loss in as many games.

The Canadians dominated from the opening whistle, outshooting Barbados 28-3, and took the lead on Petrasso's first goal in the 12th minute.

U.S. wins, Panama advances at U-17s

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Andrew Oliver scored his second goal in as many games and the United States defeated Panama 1-0 on Friday, a result that still qualified the Central Americans for the quarterfinals at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship. The Americans finished atop Group B and will face El Salvador on Tuesday in the quarterfinals. Despite the loss, Panama finished as runner-up ahead of Cuba on goal difference and will meet Costa Rica in the next round.

Ruiz's three lifts Ticos over El Salvador

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - John Ruiz scored three goals and Costa Rica defeated El Salvador 3-2 on Friday to give itself the advantage heading into the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

Both Central American sides already were assured of advancing with Haiti's withdrawal earlier in the week, but the victory gave Costa Rica the Group A title and a match against the Group B runner-up in the knockout round

Jamaica wins to reach U-17 quarterfinals

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - A goal in first-half injury time gave Jamaica a 1-0 victory over Guatemala on Saturday and sent the host "Young Boyz" into the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

The result put Jamaica with Trinidad atop Group C with four points, requiring officials to break the tie with a drawing of lots. Jamaica won the tiebreaker, meaning it will face Group D runner-up Honduras in Wednesday's quarterfinals while Trinidad must play Group D winner Canada.

The defeat was the second in as many games for Guatemala, sending it home with a pair of one-goal losses.

An unmarked Jason Wright scored the winner for his second goal of the tournament, converting a cross after Alvas Powell dribbled through the left side of the Guatemalan defense

Canada, Honduras draw 0-0 at U-17s

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica - Canada was held to a 0-0 draw by Honduras on Saturday, giving the North Americans a coveted seeded place in the quarterfinals at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship.

Canada finished atop Group D on goal difference, sending it to Wednesday's knockout round against the Group C runner-up. As group runner-up, Honduras will face the Group C winner that same day.

The two teams already were guaranteed of advancing with both having beaten Barbados earlier in the week.
