Apertura and Closura(sp) question

How does the Apertura & Closura (spelling) seasons work? are they two seasons?
is there one champ or two?

They are two tournaments so this means there are 2 champs every year. There are 17 weeks for each tournament. Then the top two teams of each of the 3 groups made up of 6 teams make it to the playoffs or in Mexico called (Liguilla) plus this year the four next best teams in the general tournament table play against each other, two games. Then those two teams that make it out Wildcard (repechaje) play against the top teams. 1 vs 10, 2 vs 9, 3 vs 8, 4 vs 7, 5 vs 6. They play each other two games. Winner plays next in the table. If teams tie, then team that was higher in table passes to next round. Final is two matches and who ever scores more goals or wins both games basically wins the tournament.Kind of complicated but I tried my best to explain it although there is probably someone else who can explain it better....

bilbao, yes, there can be two champions. I think Pumas are one of the few teams to become the "bicampeon"
