CONCACAF teams should go and play in Copa America. Or at least Mexico, USA, and Costa Rica.
I imagine the OFC championship might be worse now...:undecide:
That being said I'm still a big advocate of just playing in the Copa America, as I feel it will definitely raise the standards of North American soccer. Hell, its the Copa America, not the Copa Sudamerica...
As for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, Martinique, and Dominica, they are pretty crappy and don't have any players in Europe as far as I know. Maybe they have some in obscure English leagues or something. I remember reading that this guy who played in a Sunday league or something got called up for Turks & Caicos. I'm not sure about Martinique or Saint Martin, but I imagine its the same as Guadeloupe, where since the places are technically part of France proper (that's why they are not affiliated to FIFA), all the good players (Thuram for example) play for France. Dominica, being its own independent country, is like normal, they just don't produce very good footballers.
As for the qualification, Martinique or Guadeloupe will most likely qualify from the group, but that doesn't mean they qualify for the group, as they just qualify for a greater Carribean championship which will include every team in the Carribean zone like Trinidad, Jamaica, Cuba, Guyana, etc. The winners of groups go into playoffs until there are four teams left (usually Trinidad and Jamaica as well as Haiti, Cuba, Barbados, or St. Vincent) and the top three in a group consisting of the four teams qualify for the actual Gold Cup. Also serves as the Carribean championship.
In addition to those three, four teams out of seven from Central America qualify and the USA, Canada, Mexico, and two invited teams automatically qualify, making 12.
If I had to speculate as to who would qualify this year, I would say Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados from Carribean and Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, and El Salvador from Central America.
