Top 5 CONCACAF Nations

Who do you think are the top 5 teams?

Seems like a really weak region. Aside from the USA and Mexico, who are the other top teams? I know Costa Rica are ok, but I dont think they are anything special.

I agree. Most of the teams will never be able to compete.

1. USA
2. Mexico(This makes going to play pick-up much more enjoyable.)

3. Costa Rica
4. Jamaca(Enough good athletes to be dangerous if you blink.)
5. Honduras(Have not shown well of late.) tie Canada(Showing the most improvement.)

El Salvador can make some noise sometimes.

I have to give a special nod to Panama since I learned to play there. :broken:

It's a shame here we are in the middle of WC qualifiers and no one cares.

I guess it just proves the point.

P.S. Panama win 4-0.

Yeah, it really is.

Its kind of funny actually, but watching some of these CONCACAF teams really gives you an appreciation when it comes to the really good teams in the World, because sadly you notice there is a huge difference.

Its fun though..the CONCACAF game is different than the European game.

Lot of qualifiying in this region tomorrow and Sunday, and we should basically know the semi-final groups then.

Can we take their place if we knock them out of the qualifiers? I'm Haitian myself, if you didn't already know.

I think we've got a fair share of talent, we totally outplayed the Jamaicans in the first leg here in Miami.

Gaetan, Good luck to you guys. I haven't seen Haiti play, but you have to admit that game was one of the ones that went down as a surprise in the first leg. After the first leg I think quite a few teams were surprise at the leveling in the area, including the US. The second leg will tell if holds true.

Do you play this weekend? Maybe Gol TV will have it on or at least the highlights.

We play on Sunday, it'll be in Jamaica. GolTV won't show it, honestly who wants to watch Haiti play unless you're from there like me.

Your Haitian 2?? Cool  Sorta rare to see a fellow Haitian around in forums...

I also hope that Haiti beat Jamiaca and go all the way to the Worldcup for a 2nd time

That sure would be something if the team can beat them in Jamaica 2morrow (I think...)

Wow, you're only the 2nd Haitian that I've met on these boards. Another member here is Haitian but he doesn't post much, his username is Billy.. look him up.

Best of luck to our boys, even though the only player I know is Peguero the guy that plays for the Colorado Rapids.

Sorry guys. The home leg in Jamaca was to much.

So what about the thread who are your top 5. All seven of the teams I mentioned made it to the semi's. I would say 5 of the seven will make the final 6, you have to allow for one surprise.

The Oct. USA game is in DC I will be there. (Ha just found out US v. Panama.)

USA 6-2.

Panama 7-0.

Mexico #1
USA #2

You should know since 2000 the USA is 6-1-1 against Mexico with a 11-1 agrigate goal advantage.

Maybe in 2010, eh?

Sounds like a little bet in the next round. Just remember there will only be two teams on the field.

As the US playing all defense, did you see the last game. Shots on goal USA 7 Mexico 0.

I get tired of saying this as a GK and GK trainer. The GK is part of the team. You have to beat 11 not 10. If the GK stops all 20 shots it counts the same as never getting the ball across midfield.

If you can't beat the GK you are not a better team.

Not your fault. Sometimes I feel like I have to say it to every soccer player, coach, and fan I meet. I have sat in the locker room as the team got yelled at for 20 minutes after having a 15 save shut out game.

I did not argue because I offered a bet on the finals of the up comming world cup quaifying round. Make an offer head to head, group points.

But if you want to argue:

Club play is not international play.
Children playing is not international play.
The current players were not playing 10 and many not even 5 years ago.
4 of the 8 games since 2000 have been won by the US by 2 or more goals.
The US has only won 2 by 1-0 scores.
The only win by Mexico was 1-0.
In the most recent World Cup the US finished higher.
You never hear the winner quoting % possesion ask Italy.
11 goals to 1 is hardly luck.

Soccer is a game played between two teams. If you cannot beat that team you are not better than that team.

Most importantly we will see come January.

PS Gaetan you too.

January is coming.

You can run but you can't hide.

Remember this years team is better than last year team and next years team will be better than this team for many years to come.

Costa Rica ahead of the USA???

I have no doubt that Mexico is #1, but to put the USA 3rd and Costa Rica 2nd is worse than saying the USA should be ahead of Mexico.

USA accomplishments:

WC participations 7 (1930, 1934, 1950, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002)
WC honours Semi-final 1930, Quarter-final 2002

Costa Rican accomplishments:

WC participations 2 (1990, 2002)
WC honours Last sixteen 1990

Let's be sensible - Certainly Mexico would be 1st, but the USA is clearly in 2nd...then you can place Costa Rica 3rd...

Yes, I do thinks its 'weird' to place Costa Rica ahead! Besides, the USA beat Mexico in the World Cup - something I would consider a bit MORE important than a qualifier!!!

Come on now...be real...the USA is DEFINITELY ahead of Costa Rica - JUST like Mexico is definitely wayyy ahead of the USA...

lets be rational...

what about Canada? I mean Canada actually has some players playing in some pretty good/ok clubs in Europe.

Radzinski for Everton. Stalteri in Werder Bremen. They have a few playing in MLS.

To me seems better than a lot of the countries. Where do the Costa Rican players play? how about Mexico? Last time I checked either of those leagues are not that strong, so how are they considered that good?
