Some help from Greeks,please...

Just wanted to ask how you say WATER in Greek language ?
Explanation:this island where I m from in Croatia is named after Greek word WATER or something similar because of so many water sources on it,however that is not recognized by historians, but lately there are some texts that are saying that is actually correct.
Just correct writing of the word would help,thnx...(what we got is PAEGEA or something similar)?

That could be the case. If I were you I would also look into which dialect of ancient Greek as there are differences there as well.

It could also be that its a half-truth type of situation where people would believe its the word for "water" while it might be some other Greek word, related to the island's water abundance. After all, facts may sometimes get distorted from generation to generation.
