Teams: HELLAS, AEK, Srbija, Ukraine
The problems for us are; Greek clubs haven't done f*** all in Europe for some time now. So it's more difficult here.
Secondly, players nowadays have FAR TOO MUCH freedom in breaking and annulling contracts. Look at Toure with OSFP. Fine, you don't wanna play with them anymore because you went to Germany and saw you had options abroad, instead of panicking and selling him FAR below his real value, let his ass sit. Like AEK with Sorrentino now. He signs a 4 year extension, and then wants out a few months later, expecting AEK to take lowball offers for him? No no no. This goes to balls. Greek clubs have little tiny balls when it comes to getting tough and squeezing the most value out of their players. Nurnburg went from something like 1.5 million to 3 million almost for Lybe because AEK told them to piss off a few times. And he's 32! Imagine if AEK had the CL revenue the year they sold Kats.
The players are valued low by the clubs themselves because they usually take the first offer that comes along and have no sense in looking at the market and seeing what others are paying for players. Seitaridis didn't become a 10 million Euro transfer guy at Porto (granted PAO sold him before the EC) from a 3.5 million guy a year before at PAO.
Growing some cajonas starts with the big clubs in Greece. Aris can only follow the standard set by the bigger sides with more exposure. I think they're doing a fantastic job.
Incidentally, the only place Greek league players are overvalued is......in Greece. 2 million for Spyropoulos Panionios wanted. :rollani: But this is how some clubs (red ones) like it.
