8 million Euros. Good for Aris! They are turning into one of the best run teams in Greece. And 2 years ago they were in the 2nd division.

Aris is not as healthy as they sound. Eventually, they'll start selling players because these managers want to make money. If they are replaced, they can remain at an acceptable level but players from the Greek league do not fetch much money.

Ya but they seem to have decent connections in Spain. They keep bringing in more and more from elsewhere.

I'm not questioning their ability to find talent. I'm saying that while the practice of buy cheap, sell expensive and go on like this might work in other countries, it is extremelly difficult to sell players from the Greek league at decent prices.

Take Javito, one of their best and most talented players. They signed him for something like 200.000 euros which is cheap. He gets paid something like 150.000 euros per year which is also cheap. But no team will ever offer them more than 500.000 euros for him. If they sold him this year, they'd have made 150.000 euros, which is very little. If they sell him next summer, they make exactly nothing.

Skordas' Ronaldinho "trick" last year saved them and now they aim very high imo.

Yes but the ones who can remedy this problem is not Aris, but clubs like OSFP and PAO who set a bad standard. AEK too with Katsouranis but at last they had a reason. Seitaridis 3.5 million to Porto, while they flip Ferreira for 20?

Watch Castillo this season too. When the bar is set so low, Aris can only do what they can do in the end.

The perfect remedy for this problem is to hold on to your players and make money through european competitions.

Its the only thing they can do

05.04.00 - 05.04.09

9 years of hurt and pain.

An anniversary we never wanted, but one we'll never forget.

The problems for us are; Greek clubs haven't done f*** all in Europe for some time now. So it's more difficult here.

Secondly, players nowadays have FAR TOO MUCH freedom in breaking and annulling contracts. Look at Toure with OSFP. Fine, you don't wanna play with them anymore because you went to Germany and saw you had options abroad, instead of panicking and selling him FAR below his real value, let his ass sit. Like AEK with Sorrentino now. He signs a 4 year extension, and then wants out a few months later, expecting AEK to take lowball offers for him? No no no. This goes to balls. Greek clubs have little tiny balls when it comes to getting tough and squeezing the most value out of their players. Nurnburg went from something like 1.5 million to 3 million almost for Lybe because AEK told them to piss off a few times. And he's 32! Imagine if AEK had the CL revenue the year they sold Kats.

The players are valued low by the clubs themselves because they usually take the first offer that comes along and have no sense in looking at the market and seeing what others are paying for players. Seitaridis didn't become a 10 million Euro transfer guy at Porto (granted PAO sold him before the EC) from a 3.5 million guy a year before at PAO.

Growing some cajonas starts with the big clubs in Greece. Aris can only follow the standard set by the bigger sides with more exposure. I think they're doing a fantastic job.

Incidentally, the only place Greek league players are overvalued is......in Greece. 2 million for Spyropoulos Panionios wanted. :rollani: But this is how some clubs (red ones) like it.
