If this goes through and he is able to deal with the debt, I suspect Greece has another AEK type club to deal with, and this can only mean great things. The untapped potential of PAOK and it's fanbase can cause waves in the Superleague if properly organized.

Forza Zagorakis He is the only man can unite the fans of Paok. I am sure that Paok will be disengaged from it's economical problems and if Zagorakis finds support from the merchants of North Greece then there will be better days for the team.

If he finds money he'll do well. If not... well, we can't be in much deeper shit so nothing to loose.

Hopefully he'll be less of a poser compared to Vandis.

What bothers you about Demis? The fact that he helped rebuild a shattered club? Or the fact that he helped raised attendance? His stance on hooliganism and the organized cliques? His bringing to Greece or a coach with serious pedigree?

You're right I hope PAOK doesn't get one of those. :rollani:

Maybe another Tzigger is what you want?

I like Kontinho and appreciate what he's doing. I just don't like his poser style. And I hope Zagorakis doesn't follow it.

I think Zagorakis is playing a game with loaded dice. How can he possibly succeed with the club in such financial turmoil?

Zagorakis stated that if the debt won't be "fixed" untill 18 July he will leave.
Personally i can't see it happening but you never know.
Elections are on their way...

This is good news for Greek football as two clubs with huge potential seems to "wake up".

The debt is not that big and with good management it can be eliminated. Plus, there is always possibility for a new stadium in the long term.

Lots of things have to change though.

The rest of the league's presidents look and act like used car salesmen. Demis doesn't.

Former Greece captain Zagorakis calls it quits
Sunday June 17, 2007

ATHENS: Former Greece captain Theodoros Zagorakis has announced the end of his playing career in order to put together a consortium of investors to take over his current club PAOK.

The 35-year-old, who captained Greece to victory at Euro 2004, said he expected to take control of the club tomorrow.

“Taking into account the settlement of the debts, I am in a position to announce that as of Monday June 18, I will be running the club,” he said in a statement. “I think it is high time I retired although it was a very difficult decision. It took endless hours of reflection.”

PAOK have been in financial difficulty for several years and last season were refused entry into the UEFA Cup after failing to provide the necessary financial documentation.

Zagorakis was adamant that certain club debts be written off by the Greek state.

“I must stress categorically that if by July 18 the promises which have been given to me by the state are not realised then I will withdraw,” he said. – Reuters

Vandis acts as a messiah. Yickes.

It is possible to be a good president without acting like "used car salesman".
