I cant work out yet whether this is a good draw.........

I want this draw. I much prefer a trip to Edinburgh for AEK than the Poli or Belgrade or Spain.

spose it could have been much worse like playing fenerbahce or Maccabi Haifa but just been watching sky sports news and ex hearts manager craig laveen reckons hearts hav a good chance and "Aek doesnt strike fear into him"........Bring them on I say, theyve made no signings, arent playing in their own stadium and are playing a team who I rated as one of the best sides in that draw.......

Are you planning on going anyway icarus ??

All AEK fans will be made very welcome in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh festival will be underway, meaning the town will be buzzing with shows, street entertainers etc. I expect Hearts will make signings now and, aside from Levski Sofia or Slovan Liberec, this is the best draw we could hope for. In saying that, we'll have a lot of respect for AEK (especially after you put out Hibs, haha) and we expect a very very tough two games, especially in the away leg.
Just out of interest, who are AEK's star players?

Hearts are a very good team. They have improved immensely over the last 12 months, with Greek international Fyssas one of their players. It will not an easy for AEK, who have blown hot and cold in Europe over the last few seasons. Do they have what it takes to unlock the door to millions that the Group Stages offer?

It could have been much worse for AEK.
Fener, Osasuna, Chievo etc.
Hearts is a good team, but I think that AEK is better and easy or not they will be in the CL group stage.
Of course Hearts will have the advantage of being readier because of the Scottish League starting early, but that’s something greek teams are used to after all.
I say 55%-45% for AEK.

Yes I think AEK will make it to the group stages.....it would be nice ifwe didnt draw all the time aswell !!!!......
I think the advantage also lies with AEK playing away first.....Although Hearts will be playing competitive football before AEK i think friendlies like Benfica will help....By the way,did i hear right or i might of read it off the AEK website that the shirt for next season will eb wore on tuesday.....is that true ??

Heartsfan does the festival affect prices because i went in april and it was over-priced already let alone with thefact youve got some drama festival ???......I think they should add this match to the play list because it could be a good'en.....

AEK to win 3-1 on aggregate (1-1 after 1st leg)....I hope

Yes, the prices will be higher and you might find it difficult to get accomodation. The fact the tie is on the 7th/8th means the festival won't be fully underway (usually peaks towards the end of the month) so you should be able to find somewhere. Hotel wise, the Edinburgh Marriot and the Holiday Inn are reasonably close to Murrayfield, though the stadium is pretty easy to access from anywhere in the city.

Here are some links, but you might want to shop around cause prices vary quite a bit

Hotels

Novotel

Holiday Inn

PS - We'll win the home leg 2-0, then draw 1-1 in Athens

Try this hopefully you might find somewhere there.

I'd expect around 30,000-35,000 at Murrayfield, which has a 67,500 capacity, so the atmosphere might be a bit flat. Part of me wishes the game was at Tynecastle, which only fits 17,400, but the atmosphere there is the best in Scotland. Still, the club needs to make as much money as possible and Murrayfield is only 15 minutes walk away, so it makes sense. How many Athens fans do you expect?

It will be on BBC Scotland. It is a tough game for both sides I think, but I think having the first leg at home should give us a slight edge. We're a much better team than Hibs when you played them!

This is a fantasitc draw considering the opposition we could have potentially faced. I'm quite optimistic with our chances.

I think it's a draw that both AEK and Hearts will be equally happy with. I make AEK the slight favourites but it should be an interesting encounter nonetheless.

As well as being a talented team Hearts are also a very mentally and physically strong side, so i wouldn't expect the notorious atmosphere that Greek supporters are renowned for to affect them as badly as it might have done other teams.

AEK should pack their defensive line with a lot of physical power for the match in Edinburgh because Hearts are renowned for putting a lot of physical pressure onto teams in their attacking play, their biggest weapon is a long throw from the right back Neilson which is every bit as dangerous as a free-kick for other teams. If the AEK defenders aren't prepared to match the physical aspect of Hearts' play then it will cause them problems.

By the way, is it true that Emerson, the ex Middlesbrough and Rangers player, is now at AEK Athens?

Well he's been very good in Greece where he started with Xanthi. Easily one of the best in his position in the league bar none.
