The relegation battle is ON!

This is how the table looks at the bottom:

12. Levadiakos 28
13. Panionios 26
---------------------
14. OFI 25
15. Kalithea 20
16. Akratitos 18

Three teams relegate. Kalithea and Akratitos are already down so that leaves one out of OFI, Panionios and Levadiakos.

Levadiakos (28 points) has the following games:

Levadiakos - Olympiakos
OFI - Levadiakos

If Levadiakos gets 4 points in the last 2 games, they are safe. The game against Olympiakos is of course not easy to win at all, and then travelling to Crete to play a direct relegation contenter away from home... It's really hard. Olympiakos should logically beat them but then, they might want to assist sending OFI down for obvious reasons. Don't think Sollied is going to accept that though but I don't trust him enough to control his team over that... However, I do think Olympiakos will win.

Panionios (26 points) has the following games:

Panionios - Iraklis
Egaleo - Panionios

Theoretically, they have the easiest schedule as both Iraklis and Egaleo have nothing to play for. However, Beos is a figure who is universally disliked so I don't think Iraklis is going to roll over and die... But with the other two teams playing each other, I believe winning one game is going to be enough and they'll beat Egaleo for sure.

OFI (25 points) has the following games:

OFI - PAOK
OFI - Levadiakos

OFI definitely needs to beat Levadiakos at home on the last match day. I'm not sure if PAOK will give them a game. We have nothing to play for but Dumitrescu is really arrogant and he doesn't like to loose, and PAOK is also full of young players who do not have yet the "I couldn't care less" mentality.

So two questions:

Who do you think will go down?
Who do you want to go down?

Personally, I dislike Levadiakos because they play horrible football. Both Panionios and OFI give me the creeps for different reasons (Beos and tsatsoi) but they're very historic clubs and it would be a shame if they got relegated. However, there is also the location thing (the less teams from Athens in first division, the better although Panionios would not be my choice to not be there...) so I'd prefer it if Panionios relegates.

But I believe OFI will be relegated. They won't beat Levadiakos on last match day and Panionios will win at least one game.

I think the relegation battle is totally dependable on OFI - Levadiakos.Realistically every team could take something from each game except maybe levadiakos who play olympiakos.I think levadiakos will go down because if they were away to olympiakos and at home to OFI crete then i reallly believe they could win.
I want panionios to go down but they have the easiest run in......
could be really exciting !!!

If PAOK and Iraklis play as they can, OFI and Panionios have as many chances as Levadiakos against Olympiakos (close to nil). They're both really bad teams! But all opponents have nothing to play for so this might balance things at all fields...

Yes true, the problem with relegation battle's are that 1 point is vital and home games are unbelievably important...Also Amoroso I think your point about athens teams is a very good one,The way you also point out about ugly football is true aswell but there are always teams in leagues like that, like here in England bolton are renound for playing ugly football but unlike Levadiakos they get considerably more points......
Am I right in thinking amoroso that panionios were in the Uefa cup last year ?

Ergotelis is the future of Crete. Down with OFI.

I am very happy with Kallithea and Akratitos going down also. I hope Akratitos dissolve and never see the first division again.

The bright side is we should have (not 100% yet) 3 good teams joining the A'Divisions: Aris, Ergotelis and Kerkyra.

This is not the truth.
OFI in the last years is in deep crisis. From the other hand Ergotelis is in his best period ever, has a good management and is trying to be a decent club.

I think that OFI will stay up and the Pankritio will be full of fans in the last two games.

I didn´t know that OFI plays in the Pankritio Stadio. Was the Theodore Vardinoyannis too old or too small? Or both?

I haven´t heard of Ergotelis before, it´s hard to get information from Greek websites when you can´t read the Greek language. Do you know any English websites about Ergotelis? It´s nice to see that there´s another Cretan club in the 1st league.

SUNday

Today, I'll take a small stake on the away win of Kallithea (6.80).
It's definately a value bet. My decision is based on the teams form but, at the same time, I took under consideration reasons beyond the game itself (if you know what I mean ).

I know what you mean, but I'm not sure it applies because both teams have nothing to play for. However Atromitos fans are very angry with their team so they might be more motivated to win. And they are a much better team than Kalithea anyway. But we'll see.

"They have nothing to play for", only if 3 teams are, finally, gonna be relegated . But in Greek championship nothing is for sure. Especially this year, the last of "A' Ethniki". The preparations of next year's Super League are on going and nobody knows what are, or will be, the agreements.
Anyway, I wouldn't let go an odd of 6,80.
Likewise, I would take the 5,75 of Gimaraes (when the odds firstly published) or the 2,00 (currently) of Porto.

OFI wins 2-1 (sorry Amoroso ), but Panionios wins, too. 3-0 at the end. And Olympiakos only gets to a 2-3

The "scenario" was not "performed", but it was worthy trying ;-)
