AEK-PAO & week7

I expect AEK to be good. They were very unlucky against Oly and they didn't deserve such a defeat.
The bad thing is that Torghelle ain't gonna play and probably neither will Matzios. So it's gonna be Gekas again, along with Pap.
Lets hope PAO plays nice again and win,it's about time we make a good game in greek championship too.
If not now,in this stadioum, after a performance like that against Barca, when???

He had a soft accident in his foot during the last training and it's 50% he plays.Today he said he's gonna be ready but I think Malezani wont risk it.

Well, it's Torghelle and Gekas.

Olympiakos lost from OFI 1-0, PAOK demolished Ionikos 6-1 and Xanthi lost 3-2 at Egaleo although they were leading 0-2 at half-time.

It's getting quite exciting eh?

And AEK scores 3 goals in the last 6 minutes and it's 3-0.

I can't believe the ref assistant waved Gekas' goals off-side. I mean, to make a mistake is one thing but to not know the rules...

Standings:

1 Skoda Ξάνθη 16 7
2 Ολυμπιακός 15 7
3 ΑΕΚ 14 7
4 ΠΑΟΚ 12 7
5 Ατρόμητος 11 7
6 Παναθηναϊκός 11 7
7 Αιγάλεω 10 7
8 Λεβαδειακός 9 7
9 Καλαμαριά 8 6
10 ΟΦΗ 8 7
11 Πανιώνιος 8 7
12 Ιωνικός 7 7
13 Ηρακλής 7 7
14 Λάρισα 6 6
15 Ακράτητος 5 7
16 Καλλιθέα 1 7

Yes,Gekas' goal was ordinary, there's no offside. But,i have serious doubts about the goal from Lymberopoulos.
Anyway,i have 2 things to say:
-1.After the incredibly bad luck against Oly,AEK was expected to have a very..very lucky game sometime. That time turned to be tonight...What can we say? Chanco's goal happens once in a million and it's not just that.In the whole 2nd half they had a..bright star shining above them.
-2.Vassaras and the assistants were too friendly for AEK,but that's ok too.It was about time AEK had a good treatment in a derby,i can't remember another time in the recent years,so we shouldn't complain.

What a performance by PAOK!Lets hope they continue this way.I think this team has big potentials, but they're trying several years for the right circumstances to ''explode'' and every year something goes wrong.
If there was a great businessman to deal with this team, greek football would be totally different.

I can't remember last time PAOK had such a strong and deep roster. What Bajevic could not do with Batatoudis' "millions", Goumenos and Kostikos have done with peanuts.

As for Shikabala, who many opponents like to make fun of, he is simply mesmerising. Such an effective player, and at such a young age...

Yeah,PAOK's got a very good roster and Kostikos is doing a great job so far, isn't he?
The point is,if one or more bad results come,Goumenos not to fire him!
They should wait and let him work the whole season.I think he is building something nice...
Shikabala belongs to that kind of players that bring fans to the sport. He is class A material and he can become a real !

Yes, Kostikos has really done well, both as a Technical Director and as a coach. The only problem with him being a coach is that he was doing such a nice work at the other post, and now there is noone there. And Goumenos is definitely not going to sack him. Much as I want stability, Goumenos is firing people only when they actually have to go. Aggelos had to go; Frieger had to go; and even Karageorgiou had to go as the results prove.

What I'm trully excited are our young players:

Fernandez is growing day by day into a great goalkeeper. He still makes the odd missjudgement here and there as all young goalkeepers but his saves more than make up for it. We finally have a proper goalkeeper.

Karypidis is slowly but steadily becoming a solid defender. He's still bit reckless but his man-marking and heading ability are really something and he'll improve even more. And for a center-back he has VERY good passing.

Balafas comes from 3rd division and takes a starting spot right away, and he's only 19... The kid is cool as ice, always making nice little passes and having a tactical awareness 30 year old players would envy.

Christodoulopoulos... Such an explosive player, able to play on either wing or up front, and he's only 18. He's going to become a very complete player.

And then there are Shikabala and Iliadis...

It's all very exciting.
