A note to the thread starter..
Where do you copy this from, mate?
You need to take care the proper spelling of the names, if you want people consider you a serious fan.
See Glavisted for a good example.
Dearman also have a flaw in ignoring proper name spelling in his articles as well.
I could understand you misspelled the unknown players from China from the 30s, but Germany? Seriously?
If you use u umlaut, then use it for the rest of the names, not combining "u umlaut" and "ue" in the same line of player names.

Other than that, this is a great effort. Grandeur in the same scale of Dearman's and Glavisted's
Kudos for you, mate.

@Glavisted : I think pep pep meant that the numbers reflecting the relative ability/achievements of the players. Not the the ranking in each nation/teams.

1 - Among all time greatest players, we talk the likes of Pele and Maradona here.
2 - Among the best players of his generation, think like Di Stefano, Platini, Zidane, van Basten, Ronaldo, CR7, Puskas, Zico or Messi here.
3 - Candidates for World Player of the Year during his playing years, think like Batistuta, Ibrahimovic, Maldini, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar or Weah.
4 - European or South American greats, think like Best, Figo, Figueroa, Cubillas, Masopust or Michael Laudrup. Eto'o or Hugo Sanchez included here due to their above average tally in Europe for non-Euro/South American greats
5 - Other greats, such as Drogba, Kempes, Shevchenko, Giggs, Stoichkov or Dalglish
6-10 - players that could compete in English Premier League, Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga or French Ligue 1 (Rooney 6, Busquets 7, Ljungberg 8, Fletcher 9, Wes Brown 10)
7-11 - players that could compete in first level football in other stronger European leagues or Brazilian Serie A, Argentine Primera División or Uruguayan Primera División (Nakamura 7, Park Ji-sung 7, Dejan Petkovic 10, Xavier Chen 11)
8-12 - Players that could compete in English Championships, Mexican Liga MX, MLS, Chilean Campeonato Nacional, Paraguayan Primera División, Peruvian Primera División or Colombian Categoría Primera A (Dempsey 8)
9-13 - Players that could compete in English Football League One/Two, Japanese J-League 1, Australian A-League, Chinese Super League, Korean K-League or Iranian Persian Gulf Pro League (Kazu Miura 9 - Chen Po-liang 12, Irfan Bachdim 13)
10-14 - Players that could compete in English National League, Nigerian Premier League, South African PSL, Egyptian Premier League, Qatar Stars League or Saudi Professional League (Sami Al-Jaber 11)
11-15 - Players that could compete in Thai Premier League, Hong Kong Premier League or Indian Super League (Baichung Bhutia 11, Zesh Rehman 12 for example)
14 - Minimum level players that could compete in lower leagues, for example English regional/county leagues think like Ali Dia, Arsene Wenger's early signings, such as Jehad Muntasser, Alberto Méndez and Ömer Rıza
15- most of Tahiti 2013 Confederations Cup team, sans Marama Vahirua
16- Nicky Salapu and most if not all the players of the famed American Samoa team who lost 31-0 from Australia in 2001

uncharted - You, me, most beer-bellied, wooden-legged football fans around the world

I know mate. My answer don't refer to the level numbers he has given them in his overall system (which seems me more complex to discuss), but their order according to their peers of their own countries.

Nah mate , Balaci is generally agreed as amongst the 3 greatest romanian players ever. Dinu is a joke , but I don't blame you because you probably assume his position only trough individual awards. Apolzan also has to be definetly out. Mutu should be much higher , maybe even top 5. There's the lock top 3 and then there's G.Popescu , Baratky , Petchovsky , Mutu and Bodola.

Good list, I liked Igor Ponomarov a lot.One of the more underrated players from the '80s soviet top league. He was a very good playmaker and ran the show against Argentina when he came on for Cherenkov in his only cap. Unlucky not to get more chances in the national team, but with midfield being the deep area of the side back then and him playing with the oft-relegation battling Neftchi, he was overlooked.

I'd rate him over Ahmadov who i remember as a typical goal every 3 games soviet league forward.Good player, especially for a lower half of the table team but not many notable attributes.

@ TS: just for shits and giggles, you should make 8 names for South Yemen and South Vietnam.
They're separate member of FIFA at the moment of their existence.

Well I live here and belive me , it's the general opinion. Even when somebody has a different opinion , like Baratky's former teammate , Costea , he says , he was even greater than "Hagi , Dobrin and Balaci".

Above is a recent ranking based on a wide poll of votes. Surprisingly , Dobrin ended on top of Hagi , but Balaci was 3rd.

greatest Romanian players of all time | BigSoccer Forum

And here's a thread on Bigsoccer on the matter. It's unanimous that those 3 are default choices.

99% of the time when you will find otherwise , it will be from foreign intervention , because they have little knowledge on Balaci.

About Dinu , it's just that I never heared any romanian praise him in the breath of Hagi/Dobrin/Balaci/Petchovski or even Dumitrache.

For Italy I'd say:
Buffon
Maldini
Scirea
Pirlo
Riva
Baggio
Totti
Del Piero
They're not in a specific order.
