Of course the first Q against Israel has been moved ... in March our guys face Cyprus (28/03) and Israel (31/03) in a double header.

New hope for Belgium, unlike with us. Back to being miserable for Dutch fans.

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

LVG had a bad start too ... still you did ok after our last tie.
I thought 4-3-3 was second nature in Holland ... only saw comments and the highlights so can't tell if it was as bad as described ... if so, you should have played us instead of helping the Italians climb the ranking (draw for the WC2018 Qs is next year).

We used to play each other more often ... in the current decade there has only been one Derby of the Low Countries ... "soon" the Nations League starts and then we might have less chances to get together ... besides those matches are very lucrative.

Firstly, welcome to the forum Foefke!

There isn't really an active Belgian poster on here so it's nice to get some opinions from across the border.

You guys should wipe the floor with your qualifying group. It is much easier than the WC qualifying one.

P.S. It would be cool to see a Netherlands-Belgium game before the Nations League kicks in!

Thanks for the warm welcome ... I would have liked more activity on this sub-forum but hey-ho we'll see how it goes.

Instead of Bosnia ... I would have preferred you guys as our top seed ... to get our fun-loving rivalry going again. Also it's hard to get excited about these Qs ... even when you finish in 3rd place and they think you're cute = you're going to France.

It's all a part of Platini's politics to get re-elected!

You can already see that was partly his logic for what he did with the UCL qualifiers

Bosnia dropped points ... Wales with a narrow win (pitch is really bad in Andorra ... our guys can expect a mouthful of black rubberized crumb) ... we should be ok.

Happy that Denayer was selected ... but Wilmots still sticks with Ciman (unsure how positive his influence is on other players) ... De Laet or Meunier could have been called up instead. LB pecking order is Vertonghen, Poco ... Van Damme ... although JVD is a great guy, I prefer that Wilmots selects fewer defenders while De Laet (2-footed) could be used on both flanks (great start facing some of the best EPL sides and if he continues the season in similar fashion, he would be a good squadie).

Witsel will miss the first tie but he might be able to play against Bosnia after all (tomorrow after the scan we might get more info). Vermaelen and Benteke are still missing ... both seemed fit for duty but I'm guessing that atm they need to focus on their clubs first (Vermaelen to make his debut and Benteke returning after 6 months) ... big Fella is fully fit but lacks match rhythm and finally I heard that Dembele had a minor injury.

Witsel ruled out for both ties and Wilmots won't call up another player to replace him.

Most likely this will be our back 4: Alderweireld-Kompany-Lombaerts-Vertonghen ... De Bruyne probably is the only midfielder who's nailed on ... and I'm guessing that Wilmots goes with Mertens-Lukaku-Hazard up front ... hard to tell with a manager like him and he probably will rotate a few players.

On Thursday we'll know who'll be called up for the Iceland (friendly) and Wales (qualifier) ties. Belgium v Iceland could be a great game ... much better choice than Oz ... we should have faced Holland in that September friendly.

Looks like we'll have to make do with a makeshift back 4 against Bale & co. ... I'm guessing Vanden Borre - Alderweireld - Lombaerts - Vertonghen ... our guys could be in for a tough fight if Allen and Ramsey provide great service to Bale.

With Kompany and Vermaelen ruled out, I'd prefer Vertonghen to pair up with Alderweireld ... yet Wilmots' 2nd and 3rd string LBs also aren't fit (poor Jan always has to play out of position). Ciman, as well, isn't fully fit but even without being on the pitch he'll be hugely influential ... Alderweireld moving to CB shouldn't be a problem despite featuring so low on Wilmots' CB pecking order ... surprisingly Lombaerts will be the one starting against Wales with the most routine as CB in our NT ... still he'll have to put in a much better shift than against Iceland. Sh1t g'damn this is turning into an essay post ... so no need to bring up our FB woes (beating a dead horse can be fun though) ... still Cavanda seems to be hitting decent form @Lazio ... together with De laet, he must have thought after Vanden Borre, Meunier, Ciman and De Bock were selected (Poco and reportedly J.Van Damme were called up too).
