Belgian league >>> Dutch league

The Dutch league is too attacking and their defence sucks, even I could be topscorer there. Lukaku would score 50 goals every trimester.

But now seriously, how big do you think the gap is between the two leagues? Boskamp for example thinks the difference is very small.

Twente and PSV (with Afellay) I think are better than Anderlecht. At least from what I base on Anderlecht's outings in the Europa League and against Partizan.

Gent's win over us proved to not be a fluke. Then again if Fer had converted that chance, who knows what could have happened?

Can't really judge the others though as I've never seen Lokeren or Zulte Waregem play.

When will Club Brugge be good again btw?

Gent is top 4 Belgium, so you should compare them with Groningen or AZ now. Not with you guys.

Club Brugge will be good as soon as they sack A3. ;-)

It's pretty level pegging, imo. I'm not at all impressed with PSV but Twente handled themselves nicely in the CL and I think they're better than anyone else in the Benelux.

Aside from that, Club, AZ, Groningen, Anderlecht, Ajax... There are no huge differences. I for one would love to see players like Vargas in Alkmaar

Brugge good?
mayby after a miracle, its the last few years under Ceulemans, Matthysen and now Adrie sucky... and I dont see improvement, unless they get a good striker and somebody extra with winners mentalety

My take on the gap, its not too big, but anderlecht, genk, luik, gent would not win the dutch league if they would play there.

On the other hand, I only see psv, twente, ajex become champion in the belgian league...

the gap will be bigger if you compare the dutch jupiler league with the belgian Exqi league... I think the most dutch teams would own the belgian 2nd division

Bring back Gert Verheijen (the Kuijt of Brugge imo) and Franky vd Elst

Do barkeepers and PE teachers play in the Belgian 2nd division?
Our Jupiler League is embarrassing enough

My neutral view is that, Dutch league is better than Belgian league in many ways, more powerful football but due in recent years, Belgian football improved and Dutch football's power weakened, it closed the gap between two countries. So if it goes like this, in future Belgian league can actually overpass Dutch, of course only if situation will remains like today.

Belgian football's weakened too. It's something special nowadays if a Belgian side makes the group stages of the CL.

Anderlecht used to be on par with PSV. 3rd spot material. Now definite 4th spot material.

The other one being FC Brussels?

What actually happens if one of these part-time clubs get promoted?

Do the teachers and carpenters get told to stay at school and the building site? and a whole cartload of players gets bought ?

Here the rule that Jupiler League clubs have to be pro is killing the league.

huh? Their NT hasn't even qualified for a tournament in a while, while the Dutch played the WC final..

Anyway, gap in quality is not big at all. Last year's Euroleague encounters showed that best IMO. And whatever money advantage there was, soon there won't be. Although I'm sure the crisis will spread all across the region.

Which brings me to the following, which Belgian team has the best youth academy? I know Anderlecht is good, but who else produces talents on a yearly basis?

I forgot brussels and tubize that makes 4, beveren waasland aswell

depends what happens, look at eupen, they loaned half of italy
or zulte stayed a year semi, training at night, before they made the switch and now they are all pro's but the most semi players are gone

Tubize went up to NB1 couple of years ago and all the semi players left, leaving them at the start of the transfer period with 3 players

and I think Roeselare is still somewhat proffesional aswell

belgian football is weak, but we have a lot of talent for the NT, but even the NT sucks

best youth academy's are Genk and Standard, Anderlecht has a good youth cause they buy all the good players in youth teams from Cercle, gent ... and so on

Imo the top in Holland is a little better but the rest is pretty even.

Twente > Anderlecht
PSV > Genk
Ajax > Gent
Groningen > Standard
AZ > Club Brugge

Club and Standard probably have better players than Groningen and AZ but their game sucks.
