Walter Baseggio diagnosed with cancer?

According to an article on , Walter Baseggio would have been diagnosed with cancer (klierkanker to be precise, not sure how to translate that). The article stated that the Mouscron club doctor felt something swollen in his throat and commanded further investigations. This lead to an early diagnosis and succesful removal of the swollen parts. Apparantly, as there are no traces of cancer cells elsewhere in his body and as it was diagnosed really early, the chances of full recovery are big and Baseggio even said he feels confident to play at the highest level again in a while.

I am unsure if I must believe this, it came from HLN after all ... As on no other site I found a story about this I am unsure if this is a rumour or not. I surely hope it is. If not, then I hope he recovers soon. These are cases where it doesnīt matter which club you support, on the contrary it makes you realise what a trivial game football really is in contrast to the really important things in life (such as health). You donīt wish such illness on anyone. I hope it is a silly rumour, but if he really has cancer, then I wish him a succesful and steady recovery and hopefully he can realise that dream of playing Jupiler League football again. It would maybe be a show of strength giving confidence to anyone else fighting that horrible disease.

So itīs true? Damn... Heīs still so young, you wouldnīt wish that to your worst enemy. I hope he recovers soon. Apparently the doctors are optimistic about his chances of full recovery because it was diagnosed in an early stage?

Damn, and we can sometimes rant about a football game as if itīs actually something important. Things like this put everything in a totally different perspective, guess this is exactly why we should always remember it really is just a game. A very silly game compared to the real tragedies of life.

Get better soon Walt.
