Cofidis Cup 2009/2010

Couldn't find a topic yet, if I'm wrong feel free to merge/delete this one.

Draw first rounds

We moeten rap handelen."
Your FA really is such a joke, haha.

Anyway, some nice first round matches...
28: K.Berchem Sport 2004 - K.FC.Zwarte Leeuw
45: K.VK.Beringen - K.VV.Heusden-Zolder
63: FC.Le Lorrain Arlon - R.Jeunesse Arlonaise

Bambrugge - Jong Lede ... those two grounds were amongst the first grounds I visited as a groundhopper ... Neither of both grounds is good enough to host Vise though so very likely Vise will host that game (except if Opwijk would win the next round's game, also quite a worthless stadium but very narrowly good enough for this occasion)

Arlon - the two stadiums are literally in the same street, less than 5 minutes walking distance. Jeunesse's stadium is quite boring, but La Lorraine has a quite nice stand. Arlon is not a bad town to visit neither if the weather is OK.

Lot of interesting derbies, if I would be in your place I'd go for either Berchem-Zwarte Leeuw (the name of that latter club gives me a somewhat mixed feeling though) or for the Arlon derby. There's plenty of derbies but the others are, despite the derby aspect, only going to attract a 200 people maximum.

Anyway, the Belgian Cup is a joke, tournament lost all its charms since the protection of D1 teams. I would like KVO to withdraw from participating in the Cup. Only risks extra fatigue, suspensions and injuries and is total waste of time. Except when you draw the likes of RSCA, Club, Standard or Genk (financially interesting) the Cup is a waste of time for non-D1 teams. I wouldn't mind KVO being eliminated in the first round we play in, that way we can focus on the league and don't risk injuries or suspensions in games that IMO are pointless anyway.

How many do you think the Arlon derby or Berchem-Zwarte Leeuw could possibly attract? Near 1000?

Agreed, but don't forget about Racing Mechelen and Lierse last season...

Jong Lede have a new ground now, and probably have more fans than Visé

So they're not at the Ommegang anymore? I didn't hear about this new ground before, I do know they used to have quite a nice stadium back in the eighties when they were in 3rd division. I guess the ground at the Ommegang is only used by the local amateur teams in MTSA and KKVS than now?

They're still playing there, but totally at the back of that sports complex instead of at one of the first two pitches ...

Have they build a new stand then? I remember that complex quite well, it was used by plenty of teams. With the exception of Papegem who have their own pitch amongst the N9, and Ronkenburg, all teams from the municipality of Lede were housed there I believe. Unless this all changed in recent years ...

Does Lede attract decent crowds now in the highest provinciale division? They are in the shadow of Eendracht Aalst of course who have a fanclub in Lede with quite a lot of members ...

They have build a great new canteen, and are now raising funds for a big, new stand next to the ground.

I think they get between 500 and 800 fans each games, and always have the biggest travelling crowd in the division. I remember the game against Bambrugge a few years ago had more than 1.000 paying visitors.

Any derbies or teams with some away fans?

Hate to disappoint you, but IMO the only one easily accessible and with a relatively big crowd and nice stadium is the Meerhout Geel versus St Lenaarts derby. But that's a saturday evening

Thanks anyway, think it's going to be Buraufosse as no one knows if RFC Liege will play there any time in the future and this is a nice possibility.

A bit an unlucky draw this time...

Went to Tilleur SG - Malmundaria, Malmundaria won 0-1.

I really love Buraufosse , it's such a pity only a 5th level team is playing there...

btw, is it still called cofidis cup?

My wish came true, we´re out in the first round No more wasting time and energy and risking injuries in this pointless tournament. I would have rather just seen us refraining from entering the cup in the first place, but at least we´re out immediately so that we can focus entirely on the league.

By the way, Huy plays Lierse now. We would have lost with an embarrassing scoreline anyway there, and that doesn´t make sense when the league games are so much more important. I´m glad we won´t risk suspensions, injuries and waste of energy anymore in this cup. An extra training will be more useful than having won in Huy and play another cup game.

How does STVV manage to play a cup game in a weekend when they have to play in the Jupiler League?

R.Ent.Bertrigeoise - R.White Star Woluwe FC.

The 14 winners of this round will get into the draw with 15 D1 clubs, AFC Tubize, FCV Dender EH & RAEC Mons.
These matches will be played this weekend?

Not really exciting ties, perhaps Rupel Boom versus Beveren but that's it.

Yes they will. Here you'll find more about the exact kick off times.

Sint Truiden should play on Sunday if we may believe that plan. Would be weird as they also play on Saturday. I wonder what they will do though.

To answer Cracked: Against Berchem STVV played at Wednesday

Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.
